The Queensland NRL star at the centre of an explosive rape allegation has been formally cleared after a month-long investigation.
Sport Confidential can reveal a Queensland-based player will not be charged by police after a woman officially withdrew her complaint.
The NRL’s Magic Round last month was rocked by a Channel 9 news report that Queensland police were investigating a sexual assault claim levelled against an NRL top-liner, who has played State of Origin.
The player is currently contracted to one of Queensland’s four NRL clubs.
Sport Confidential is aware of the player’s identity, but he cannot be named for legal reasons.
Police officers attended the player’s residence for questioning to discuss an alleged rape incident.
It is understood the NRL player at the centre of the investigation and a woman had been drinking heavily on the night in question.
