Sorry Stephen. The more time you spend on this forum the more you know of the game. Its almost like plaing the real thing........almost
I think Peter Sterling summed up his performance quite tidily.
7. M. PEARCE (7/10): Drifted a little in and out of the contest but I still liked the majority of what he produced. Still not finding that dominant performance that he has publicly stated that he is looking for but there is definitely never any lack of effort.
What distinguishes the great halfbacks and Pearce is his inability to be dominant and a constant menace.
What i want to see from him is regularly popping up on both sides of the ruck.. asking questions in the minds of the defence.. whether it be a short ball or a long ball..utilising a decoy and playing behind the front line of attack etc etc.
And that is why Thurston is so good. That's what he constantly applies at club and origin level.
Now, Pearce does have a good short ball.. he also has quite an accurate cut-out as well as we saw last night where he linked with Jennings/Hayne... but it seems as though he comes into a match with a pre-conceived idea of one or the other. And that's where he needs to learn to mix it up to threaten the line.
Having said all that, it was a solid display without being as "brilliant" as some of u are making it out to be.
