great post and summed up so eloquently. all week papers and other in the know how have been pumping up carneys influence on the game much like they did sowies lasy yr. a yr on and pearce took control in the 2nd half when disaster happened and his partner in the halves was missing tackles, dropping balls, kicking out on the full etc etc.

I thought Pearce did well considering he had no 5/8 tonight also did well even compared to the QLD halves same with farrah. I thought the same thing watching the game his two biggest games and Carney lost it, lets hope Mitch doesnt go on the piss with him he might loose it tonight.

Pearce was OK with some good moments, and some bad moments.

I'm not convinced the offside penalty Andrew Walker keeps bringing up was against Pearce - it was called after Pearce's shot, when Farah and Gallen (?) made contact with Scott. Gus seemed to think it was Pearce but I'm not sure.

His kicking was pretty decent for the most part (with no support from Carney). Only bad moment was the ball straight to Cameron Smith.

I reckon he'd have to be the toughest halfback going around at the moment. Yeah, yeah, nobody cares about halfbacks who can tackle, but I love seeing him rip into the bigger blokes.

Nice kick for the Jennings try, then a great move to put Hayne in space and Jennings away down the left.

Carney was nowhere. As Brain said, I think it took Pearce a half to realise he was back to playing without a 5/8 again. Carney was MIAnasta.

His offside penalty and ridiculous attempt on a big hit on a man twice his size Resulted in a penalty a brawl ensuing and a player sin binned Its not clutching at straws I ahve said Carney was disappointing However I disagree with the person who started the thread saying Perace showed true leadership qualities

Sure Carney's kicking was poor...
But I think the halves from both teams were pretty invisible?

IMO it was one of those games where the forwards just kept hitting it up (from both teams.)

QLD were VERY lucky that Jennings was sent off (ANYBODY could have been singled out and sent off... it was a biff and I think singling out Jennings was unfair. QLD didn't like the tackle so they threw the ball at the tackler's head... after that everybody went in. I don't think being involved in a 26 man brawl is a send-off offence.)

Then... who knows? 2 Tough video ref decisions... ours was disallowed, theirs wasn't.

Felt a lot like a regular Rooster's game. I've grown to expect that unless you've got the better depth of players, you tend to not only lose, but have your moments of glory snatched away from you by the refs unfairly every week.
