  • Best Roosters semis player this century?

Watching some old replays during the off-season, it's a toss up between Fittler and Fitzgibbon.

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I meant best 'finals' player this century.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Luke Phillips comes to mind quickly. Mini was right up there. Latrell Mitchell, I thought was excellent especially in the two Grand Finals in 2018 and 2019. JWH should have won the Clive Churchill medal in 2019 and was overall inspirational. Daniel Tupou never let the occasion get the better of him. Jake Friend never did anything wrong. And as you said, Freddy and Fitzy obviously.

Hard to pick one as I'd have to watch dozens of finals matches to make a sound decision. But on first thoughts, I'll go with Luke Phillips.

"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Luke Phillips is a meritorious selection, though I think he made a couple of uncharacteristic errors in the match prior to the 2000 GF loss. He was amazing in the big dance and saved Easts from being absolutely belted.

Diamond had a shocking moment in the semi against Parra a few weeks earlier when he dropped a sitter at fullback and then quite amazingly just dropped his head from his clanger instead of cleaning up the ball, and Parra came through picked up the loose ball and scored. We can forgive him for that horror moment as he was brilliant in a losing team in the 2000GF and was also superb in our run to the 2002 title and again super performance in the 02 GF

Your memory is better than mine. I was reminded of his clangers after watching a replay of the match the other day.

I'll add James Maloney to the list.

And, as much as it pains me, I don't think there's any room for Minichiello in the list.
