I think expansion will be great for the game. For me I think Perth and a 2nd NZ team are the way to go your thoughts???

I don't see the rush, the Titans and Melbourne (last two clubs to have entered the comp) have hardly established themselves off the field. Melbourne are entering some tough take over talks and the Titans woes are well known. Should concentrate on putting the new money into the current clubs and shore them up.

Lol Melbourne are a powerhouse. I doubt they have massive debts and they're overperforming and have good fan base. Btw Tigers and Northern Eagles(turned into Manly) came in 2000 Souffs came in 2001. Storm in 98' so Titans and Tigers are the latest clubs.

If you actually read what I wrote they're in some tough take over talks now, News Ltd want out and there's not a whole lot of private backers who are interested to lose millions of dollars every year. It's important we continue to back up the Storm when News Ltd leave because as you said they're starting to get a good supporter base and it's important we keep a team there.

As for your pedantic argument of the latest teams I'm talking about new franchises, not mergers. Manly, Souths & Tigers all came into the game with already established revenue streams and supporter bases. You've quite obviously missed the whole point of my argument...

They're starting to establish some good grassroots footy programs, Mahe Fonua will be their golden boy for the years to come he's something special and he's a Melbourne boy.

If your argument is based on where the talent is produced why another team in QLD when they have 3 teams already and only 1 team in NZ despite both provinces producing the same amount of talent?

to be honest i reakon we should be looking at future teams and helping them in the process in building a solid base before entering into the nrl, build them up to the main stage so start them in nsw cup or the qld cup depending on where there from and then as grow as a club bring them up into the nrl, instead of just throwing them in, it didnt work for the titans and now they face a hard battle to even stay in the game. i dont think that qld should have another team, WA should never have a team there just enough support over there i would be quite happy to see a 2nd nz team and maybe a team on the central coast.

I reckon franchises that demonstrate self sufficiency can go to a shortlist. That means the Rockhampton consortium and Perth are top of the list. Wellington, Brisbane Bombers and Central Coast will have to demonstrate it to stay in the process and Central Coast will have to drop Bears association. Bears committed suicide by saving Manly from bankruptcy and losing their license so they don't get a second life in new clothes.

If the Roosters want to merge with Central Queensland Capras and move to Rockhampton to become the retirement home for Wayne Bennett I am all for it.
