  • Refs fixing games

Great article from Roy Masters today's SMH. He shares the opinion with some of us here about the NRL angling for a Vermin GF. Fits right in with the 5 penalties they have conceded all year for being offside:

Souths are getting a lovely time of it, anyone who saw Merrit's flop then spin on top of a player who just made a linebreak will wonder why he didn't go for 10 like Leilua or at the least even give away a penalty.

A protected species, but only for this season, watch us become tithe glamour club next year with saw and roger, well start getting the run of penalties we deserve then, not against us for a change either!

Then you'll wake up from your dream...

The club/coaches should use the us vs them mentality to our advantage...

Not me mate, Roy Masters. Tell him to wake up, he wrote the article. Unlike me he might give a shit what you think.

They did it for ST George in 2010, they are doing it for $ouff$ in 2012.
Another example was the hit on Morris the other day by Burgess after Morris scored.

I personally think it will be worse next year with SBW.

Our current Wentworth Courier match day writer is a bloody legend.

I'd trust him with my beer anyday.

Reff fixing claims go waaaaaaaay back, it's not a new phenom.

I dont believe the refs the NRL Channel 9 or Fox give any team a leg up or rig games.

And if I did I wouldn't follow the game.

Harrigan has farked the refs up with his interprative approach. Rather than train the refs to enforce the rules he's trained them to 'interpreting' the rules and that's what I believe has lead to the current wave of inconsistencies in rulings. One ref will interpret a rule one way while another ref can interpret it another even if those refs are on the field at the same time.

Refs are also human and it's not a leap to think that they would favour a loosing side over one that has built a commanding lead. This has been confirmed by refs constantly referring to the penalty count and evening it up if it's one sided regardless if it's warranted or not. It's also not a leap to believe that the codes administration favour close games over blowouts.

Unless a ref comes out and publically admits they favour one team over another, for whatever reason, it's all one big conspiracy.

                            Chook.

                              Bingo!
And once you start down that road there's no place for a U turn.
