The worst part of it all was the sponsor of the Bulldogs coming out and saying what he said.

Media shouldn't have been there, players shouldn't have said what they did it really wasn't a big deal if they just fronted up and said 'we'd obviously had too much to drink, hard loss to swollow the night before and the last thing we wanted to deal with was the media, it was wrong, we're sorry etc etc.' most people would just let it be. But the idiot who owns Jaycar really opened up a can of worms and put the comments into a totally different perspective. No longer will they be viewed as comments from some players who had a little too much to drink but by players (what were his words) who think women should expect it and ogling is ok.

The most interesting part was this comment "What they didn’t record was he did apologise", it's pretty obvious from that comment that the club already know who 'he' is.

From a small situation that could have ended with a prompt apology the Bulldogs have somehow ended up disgracing themselves and making national news headlines.

"If a woman walks into some bars in Sydney, she will be ogled, she will be treated as an object and that's the way it is. She doesn't have to walk into those bars," Johnston said near the end of an interview with Ben Fordham.

What was said was a disgrace. The buff heads on here saying why would they send a female to a mad Monday need to realise its the year 2012 not the 1950's.
It would have been so much easier and smarter to send out Barba and Ennis for 5 min each. Answer a couple of questions then ask for a bit of privacy. Remember they failed to meet there media commitments after the game too. Whether you think the media should have gone is beside the point. They go to every clubs mad Monday, even the wooden spooners, where Hindmarsh simply said I'm in no condition to talk.
How the media went about it was wrong but it just doesn't excuse the comments made.
On to Todd Greenburg. I thought he was different, I thought he was all about changing the club. He is supposed to be the best CEO in the business and a future leader of this game. He would know exactly who said what and looks as though he is just trying to brush it off. I'm not saying to name them because I don't think that sacking the players is warranted, but at least make the offending players apologise in person to the journalist and slap them with $10-$15,000 fines, then come out and state what you did.
There are many women sports reporters, a couple associated with 9, why didn't they send one of those to the Mad Monday???

I've seen reports that other media were given a quick comment from the club but 9 arrived late. Then they used long range mics to listen in to the players from some 40 meters away, thru a partially open window. If true that's looking for a story.

The Boggs have been terrible with the media this season. It's Desmonds us against the world mentality. I don't agree with it but it works for them.

I dont see the fascination with covering Mad Monday. It's nothing to do with sport, it's all to do with gossip pages. It's the stuff Bourbon Bekky dreams about. I just don't get it.

IMO this reeks of the media looking for a headline. And everyone seems to have bitten the hook.

All the Dogs had to do was to send someone like Sam P, a non-drinker, out to say a few words to any media that turned up and everyone would have been happy and the rest of the team could get as pissed as they liked without interruption.

It's not rocket science. Just a little organised thinking from one of the many hangers on and admin staff at the Dogs. Not to mention Greenburg.

As for that Jaycar bloke, what a neanderthal - perfect fit for the Dogs! I bet the female members of his family are feeling so proud of him right now.

              Valid points NC.

All year The Boggs have reportedly treated the media with disrespect. And that's after the NRL put in place new media guidelines.

I ask why hasn't the NRL questioned and reprimanded the club over their treatment of the media???

They have been allowed to flaunt the rules and now think they are above the rules obviously. That's IMO where the problem begins.

I still maintain the way the media went about trying to get a story is wrong. Wouldn't it have been just as good a story to report that The Boggs were the only club to again shun their media commitments??? Instead they went looking for a sensational angle.

IMO they are as out of order as The Boggs are.

Seems amid all the calls for Greenturd to become the next Gallop someone failed to realize that he can't keep his own club in check, how on earth would he run the whole show???

Dumbness all round. But they got the result, the games still in the media, shame it's not for the quality of footy played again.

People love to hate the Bulldogs and will jump at any excuse to point fingers at them.

Moral of the story is many footballers (not to mention men) have little respect for women and I don't know why that's still surprising and shocking people.

So true my friend! The girl I sit next to at work used to date a high profile player who got himself into hot water with 2 clubs and she ended up marrying someone else. She told me the names of several other players who tried to hit on her whilst she was with this player, thinking she was 'one of those' types of girls. Ironically, she told me this story whilst we were in a Sydney bar this evening. I guess we were being ogled like pieces of meat in a butcher's window. Mr Jaycar must think the little woman must stay home covered in a knee rug. I don't drink alcohol and I don't go to bars to pick up men. We went because we were thirsty from gardening and painting all day at a home for the blind and deaf. Do you think if we'd gone to a coffee shop instead of a bar, we'd still get ogled at and viewed as 'objects'? If men want to look, they'll look regardless of where the setting is! Even at church dances when we were teenagers, men would always look!
