Surprise surprise that the broncos get 18 out of the first 20 round on FTA. The only times they won't be on nine is when they have their byes....

Sunday Telegraph: Draft draw sees Broncos get 18 Ch9 games in first 20 rds. Sths, Dogs 14 each; Manly 10; WTigs 9; Eels, NQ, StI, Cron 8 ; Roosters 7; Newc 5; GCst 4; Penrith 4; Canberra 1; Warriors 1 ;Melb 1

Thats great for channel 9, but hardly fair to the other teams in the comp, in as much as the Bronco's get a full week recovery time after evergame, and not be hindered by monday night games, leading to short preperation time for the next weeks game. I f Channel 9 cant be fair abit it, they shouldn't of bothered tendering for the rights.

Channel 9 have every right to put forward their bid, if it's considered to be 'unfair' then it's up to the NRL to negotiate or reject the bid.

Channel 9 are just doing what's best for their shareholders and within what has been negotiated under the new TV Deal, they've been given the right to choose which games they want and they paid top dollar for that right. If you feel the game should of settled for less money with better terms & conditions then I can understand that view point but criticisng nine makes no sense. They're a business, making decisions in their best interest and within in their rights.

            My thoughts exactly, Hawk.
It's one thing to say that 9 are looking after their own interests but the game is bigger than any one identity and should showcase the best teams playing the best matches.
I imagine that their would be proviso in the contract to cover this area & give the League last say in the matter.
Once again it appears very lopsided with coverage.

Channel 9 commented about all this when they won the rights.
They now need to recoup the billion dollars they have put up and will air the games that attract the most viewers,or they go bust and the NRL get nothing...

Bring on live streaming I say, fark all TV and radio stations to death, their time is done!

We'll soon have the best internet infrastructure in the world, let's make use of it. Live streaming is the future, the ARLC had better start researching how to sell it as part of the next rights deal cause it's what we'll all be expecting by then.

I've live streamed the Curiosity landing and that very high sky diver just set a new record for most live streamed at 14mill. It'll be the new medium in 5 years time. TV stations have 6-10 years and they'll be dead, news papers are already dying and they have maybe 10 years left, and best part is that it's us that's killing them.

Downloading, this website, twitter, facebook, phones, telecommunications is how we communicate, how we vote, how we entertain ourselves, the above mediums are as dead as carrier pidgeons and smoke signals.

                Chook.

Channel 9 have done a great job at looking after their shareholders, getting themselves into 3 billion dollars worth of debt, and virtually having to sign the joint away to creditors, to keep the doors open for business, with a resume like that, the directors are shoo ins for labour party endorsement, if they want to go into politics, because they have all the attributes of turning a large company into a small debt riddled one, no problems at all.

Get used to it folks because we've got another 5 years of it.

The one real benefit of the new TV deal is that 9 have lost the first and last rights they've had in the past when it comes to negotiating the next deal. Hopefully that means this is their last years of televising league, as they do a bloody crap job of it and have done for years.

To be honest, the less Channel 9 games the Roosters have the better in my view - Fox is far superior in their coverage. So if I can't be at the game, Fox is definitely my preferred broadcaster of our matches.

I reckon it's a shame that the new deal didn't include a guarantee that each club would get, say a minimum 3-4 FTA games a year, which I don't believe is unreasonable. The way it is a few lucky clubs and their sponsors get most of the FTA exposure - and they tend not to be the ones who need it the most.

lol, typical rightie, knows nothing but thinks they know everything. Nine was loaded up with 3bill debt from a foreign owner moron. Take a moment to learn about what you're talking about before talking.

I agree NC, I prefer to watch the Roosters on Fox, superior coverage and commentary.

Does that include the games they broadcast on GEM? It worked well last year when the Sydney game was played first on GEM while Nine were showing the Broncos game.

And even more importantly no freakin ads to ruin the flow of the game! I'm happy to pay for my footy to have it ad free for 40 minutes at a time. I understand that 9 have to have their ads to get their money back, but their timing of them is appalling, makes the game so disjointed.
