  • Brian Smith = new boss of refs?

Long article about the Tigpies with a picture of Braith looking rubbish then...

Meanwhile, former Sydney Roosters coach Brian Smith visited NRL headquarters on Monday to discuss his interest in taking charge of referees next season. A replacement for sacked referees bosses Bill Harrigan and Stuart Raper is expected to be announced later this week.

BLOODY HELL!!!!! Although if he practices what he preached as our coach it might be alright. Doubt he would...

He is the best choice for the job, he has a better understanding of the game then a ref imo and most imortantly he likes a free flowing game so he will clean up the ruck. Very much against the storm style of footy so I think he might sort all that rubbish out.

It's a good choice for Rugby League/NRL if he does. I think he's previously said he'd love the game to open up and be more free flowing. Would love the game to get back to that and throw away the wrestle

Hopefully there's not too much ill-feeling towards the club

Isn't the family still represented at the Chooks? I thought second son Keegan had followed Trent from LeCatalans as our strength and conditioning coach for next season.

ROFLOL, AlFredo just shat his pants.

Could work IMO, as others have said his philosophy on footy, back to the more pure game and losing the wrestle etc, is just what's required at the NRL level.

And it would piss Rothwitt and Co off royally. It's a win-win.

            You know it makes sense.

As I said in another thread on this subject a few days ago, I think he'd be a fantastic choice. He hates the wrestle and the slow play the ball and likes the game to be sped up and more open. I also don't think he will be out to get us as he's good mates with Robbo and his 2nd son will be on our coaching staff. If Brian gets the job he will open the game up which will suit Robbo's style of coaching perfectly. Also p!ssing Rothwitt off is always a good thing!
