Benji wants out of his 4 year contract in or by October and onto one year contracts ,so he can follow SBW and collect a cool $Mill each off season.
I posted months ago the SBW one year deals will open a can of worms for every marquee player to persue which we are now starting to see.
With restraint of trade laws as they are,it leaves the NRL in a helpless position to stop it...

I don't have a problem with 1 year deals as it does away with signing up a player for a multiple year contract and once got the player doesn't perform for most of it SKD,FPN and Symonds spring to mind, it works both ways.
If a player misses games due to injury from other contracted sports whilst not playing league then the contract gets reduced to an agreed amount (like a match payment system) ,you get paid for the games you play.
If a player is a non performer then the club at the end of the year lets the player go easy as no having to carry the player for 3 years on money he doesn't deserve.

there is some good ideas in the post but, what peevs me is there are no club players left.mini. a believe the clubs need more insentive for the players to stay at a club than money. we as fans enjoy yelling at out stars when they are playing but i personally hate seeind X stars playing for other teams.
sure we have dead wood but doesnt every star shine atleast once. 12 month contracts should only be honoured if a player like mini needs his wheel chair fixed. two years should be the nrls minimum sized contract. 5 years are a joke.
