ACADEMY Award winner and rugby league tragic Russell Crowe will sell out of South Sydney at the end of 2013, according to reports.
Crowe has been involved with the Rabbitohs since the 1990s and has poured millions of dollars into the club since he and businessman Peter Holmes a Court bought it in 2006.
Fairfax media and Channel Nine reported this morning that Crowe would sell his interest in the club at the end of next NRL season.
In 2005, Crowe made the Rabbitohs the first club team in Australia to be sponsored by a film, when he negotiated a deal to advertise his film Cinderella Man on their jerseys.
Crowe is friends with many current and former players of the club, and employed former South Sydney forward Mark Carroll as a bodyguard and personal trainer.
In March, 2006, the voting members of the South Sydney club voted in a three-quarter to allow Crowe and Holmes a Court to purchase 75 per cent of the organisation.
