Add to that Kasiano now a rep player, Reynolds will be commanding some top coin, Ennis wouldn't be on peanuts. They will need offload some serious cap space surely......

Seems a hell of a lot $$ coming in than $$ going out !

BTW, add to your list they would've spent big $$'s on getting T-Rex for 2013

          Bred not Bought !

Greenberg is too smart to get caught rorting the cap illegally. They are making full use of their legal rorting deal with ANZ, just as the Broncos make full use of their legal rort known as the Throughoughbreds.

Good on em I say, just as I say good on us making use of one year contracts. Fark the cap. If we can rort the thing legally than go for it.

            Chook.

                    CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

2013 Gains: Krisnan Inu (Mid Season: New Zealand Warriors, 2015), Sam Perrett (Mid Season: Sydney Roosters, 2015), Tony Williams (Manly Sea Eagles, 2016)
2013 Losses: Jake Foster (Canberra Raiders), Bryson Goodwin (South Sydney Rabbitohs), Luke MacDougall (retired), Tupou Sopoaga (Cronulla Sharks), Jonathan Wright (Cronulla Sharks)
Re-Signed: Harlan Alaalatoa (2014), Dene Halatau (2013), Sam Kasiano (2015), Kris Keating (2014), Joel Romelo (2014), Martin Taupau (2014), Steve Turner (2013)
Off Contract 2012: Mitch Brown, Drury Low, David Stagg
                    2013 Coach: Des Hasler

They will be able to afford Thurston in 2014. They have only bought Tony Williams for 2013.

IMO blokes like Kasiano $200k max Perrett & Inu $150k & $180k, Josh Morris $250k, Barba $180k, Reynolds & Keating $100k & 180k, Johnathon Wright who was the other winger has gone to the Sharks. Thats 1.24 mill on your backline. I think Hodkinson is on around 250k & there other backup backs are Mitch Brown, Joel Romeo & Steve Turner, none of them would be on more than 150 to 200k.

                    Ennis 300k, Pritchard 350k, Eastwood 250k, Tony Williams 400k, Toleman 200k, James Graham 300k,

Dale Finucane, James Gavet, Dene Halatau, Josh Jackson, David Klemmer, Timoteo Lafai, Leilani Latu, Drury Low
Corey Payne, Martin Taupau is the rest of there squad, so from my calculations they have plenty of room under the 7 million salary cap. Im not a fan of the Dogs at all but they are a well run club, pretty much all have been.

You sound like their tax accountant lol... It was publicly reported the Dogs would be footing the full bill of Inu's $325K per year contract for next season. I have on good authority Perrett is being paid $300K+ next year and Tony Williams will be on $500K. Pritchard rejected $400K from the Panthers so he would likely be on more than you mentioned.. Barba for $180K, well I think that is something of a stretch. Hardly think he would be on just over half of what guys like Perrett and Inu are getting and those 2 would not get more than Josh Morris.
                      ...

The only person who knows what these guys are on is the guy who manages the spreadsheet in the office. Not because of the secrecy but mainly due to the incentives, top ups and discounts that are available. . Very few people know the full story until 31 October of each year as a result. So the contract dollars don't necessarily reflect the actual earnings

I know some of those numbers aren't quite right, but they may very well be contract dollars. Those that do have the ability to earn extras through rep footy, 3rd party deals etc have contracts that reflect their ability to do this but have minimums built into their contract, some of the players are on minimums to safeguard against injuries etc. That is ... someone (like a marquee or rep player) may have a minimum, be on a $150k contract but with extras could earn $500k, but the club underwrites up to $350k. Another player who doesn't have the same opportunities may have a flat contract dollar amount, come hell or high water.

Management of the salary cap has become quite a sophisticated and scientific process. Doing the sums isn't easy.

Are we under or over the cap, who knows ... unless they get caught you would assume they are. If your club isn't seeking to gain whatever advantage possible on or off the field then enjoy having each September off.

Regardless, I know the squealing will reach fever pitch before round 1 next year. Buckle in.
