  • Copyright anyone ???

Has anyone picked up on the fact that the Manchester United fan song is almost identical to that of LOL@Souffs. I know that there aren't many football(soccer) fans in Australia to notice, but do Souffs pay royalties to ManU everytime they sing their song.

Rusty has some explaining to do.

Seeing as how it was originally the Battle Hymn of the Republic, I think it's too old for anyone to claim copyright!

edit: "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" is a hymn by American writer Julia Ward Howe using the music from the song "John Brown's Body". Howe's more famous lyrics were written in November 1861 and first published in The Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. The song links the judgment of the wicked at the end of time (New Testament) with the American Civil War. Since that time it has become an extremely popular and well-known American patriotic song.

Man Utd weren't even the first ones to starting singing it.

This one stills makes me laugh...Stand and be counted...yes, count how many heads and teeth your fans have..and don't forget to keep repeating the name of your club because you are too blockheaded to remember unless you repeat it over and over again..I remember when this was screened in Round one out at Homebush and I sat in the travelling chookpen for that wonderful victory. I don't think I've ever enjoyed an away game so much as I did that day.

Me too, most especially when Nathan Merritt was streaking away for a certain try then without interference he coughed the ball up after looking at himself on the big screen. PRICELESS!!! LOL@$OUFF$
