What he and his ilk are doing by rejecting the lastest offer is taking more money from grassroots football so they can fund their extravagant lifestyles. Meanwhile mums and dads volunteer to ref, manage, raise money and grounds-keep for junior football across the country in order to keep it

You could just as easily say that if it wasn't for the executive salaries being paid to the senior people across the multiple beneficiary-businesses making hay off the players' hard-yards and talent, that grass-roots would benefit, too.

12:15pm Brad Walter: League. Fears that negotiations between the NRL and players over a collective bargaining agreement have broken down are unfounded and a deal remains imminent.

Australian captain Cameron Smith sparked concerns about the talks this morning when he told Sky Sports Radio that clubs had voted against the proposal. However, Fairfax Media has been told that Smith's comments were based on a misunderstanding arising from some conversations that he had at around Christmas time.

RLPA boas David Garnsey has now updated him on the current position. Smith is due to hold a press conference in Briabane

You're not convinced by my line or argument yet you reiterate it? I would say that if all the senior people were asking for more money, but they aren't, and neither are the players if would seem so our respective points are now moot.

This has nothing to do with memberships, tickets or merchandise mate. Fans don't help fund the game.

It's about the cool Billion + from the TV deals.

That funds the game, that's what everyone wants a piece of.

I know fans like to feel fuzzy thinking they actually mean something but in the grand scheme of things we rank very low on the list of priorities.

Chook I know what your saying but I think they are pushing for more coin so the minimum wage can increase. I think the bottom tier players will be the big winners in all of this not so much the top tier players

I read somewhere that the bottom players and top players have been looked after but it is the middle range players which probably makes up for 70% of the league are being forgotten in the negotiations

I agree in theory mate.

But Without PayTV there wouldn't be billion dollar TV deals.

Oh and without players also.

Sure we are the watchers but if they ever gave a fark what we actually thought they would listen to us about scheduling and costs associated with attending footy games and merchandise costs and rules and funding for grassroots etcetcetc.

I'm yet to see a fan have any real say in any important matters in RL.

I'm with The Grub, the players put on the show IMO, they deserve the bulk of the $$$, especially the workers and fringe first graders, that's the toughest gig.

I read recently the new boss pulls over a mill a season. He gets more than any player, and he doesn't even make a tackle or hit up, reminds me of Bwaiff.

He wasn't even involved in the new TV deal.

I personally dont get why administrators get the same or more pay than the best players in the game.

I'm yet to hear a fan paying to see a bloke in a suit stick his pen up his nose all day or play with his balls under his desk.

All the while we have blokes going and wasting their talents in Yawnion or gAyFL to earn the coin they should be getting.

I love the game, always have and will, but stripped bare it's pretty farked up. Ask a Seppo or a Pom what they think of some of the ins and outs and so-called professionalism of RL and they'd be stunned.

Just my opinion biarches.
