if hasler wants to go one step further and win the comp this year (although I doubt that will be possible without barba, graham and kasiano for atleast half the season), he cant play perret at fullback. best bet is inu.

May run deeper and the rumours may be true ...lets just say the in house test results stay in house unfortunately.

Well, that would run contrary to the narrative that Greenburg has managed to spin. Every story is about poor vulnerable Ben and how brave and helpful the Dogs have been. If what you say is true, the real story is of an uncontrollable and irresponsible wild child and club cover-up.

Not under the new rules around the new ARLC Drugs Integrity Team they won't. Any drugs test that brings back a positive result, performance enhancing or recreational, must be submitted to this team for analysis and investigation, according to Dave Smith anyway. Granted this new team is not up and running just yet, but this Barba situation if it involves drugs, is well within their sphere of influence.

I hope Barba gets his shit together I really do. But what annoys me is the fawning sycophancy from the media towards the club and their situation. We went through similar situations with players and got our name dragged through the mud as a cultureless party club of boozes. If there has been a cover up of Barba's off field indescretions by the dogs, and from what Imadog has said there appears to have been, then why aren't the media reporting it? I know they would if it was us!

          Chook.

It certainly goes deeper much deeper, a club doesnt get stand down a player and have his picture profile removed from the web site because he has personal isssues!

He gets given time off, the dogs are just trying to control the situation to get him back onfeild this yr, its all about damage control. Lets see how much of the truth comes out what ever it is its serious.

Just hear Nigel Vagana interview on BSB, he said that every club has a player welfare officer & with the increased money from the TV deal each club will be required to have 2 player welfare officers, anyone know who are the Roosters player welfare officers??

To date, Brian Sinclair has been our club's Welfare Officer, He's been in that role for over 15 yrs.

Thanks Gman, do you know what sort of involvement or assistance he gave Todd or BJ or any other number of players that have made headlines over his 15 years, it's a role you never hear anything about, but it seems to be one of the more important developmental roles within the club, I don't know of Brian Sinclair but I hope he's the right man for the job.

BArty, ive no doubt the players you've mentioned would have been assisted, closely monitored and offered whatever counselling was req'd however there's only so much you can do, like the saying about leading a horse to water.....
The WO role across football codes is an extremely important role (24-7) but also very difficult and demanding by virtue that most of our youngsters, are recruited from interstate or country towns to the bright lights of Sydney city.

Yeah would be a very difficult job, that's why I hope we have the right person/people in place to deal with our young ones, who seem to be in the highest risk category, many of our young guys are placed in the bright lights in the Eastern Suburbs after being plucked from mostly remote smaller towns, with time & cash at their disposal like they've never known before, someone like a Vagana or Wiki with their stature & experience would be an invaluable asset to the club. Wonder what Hughy McGahan is doing these days?
