  • The limitless salary cap at Belmore.

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1226591080851

AS a boy, David Klemmer was such a fanatical Canterbury fan that he slept under a Bulldogs bedspread.

Now all his dreams have really come true.

On top of being named to make his NRL debut yesterday, the 19-year-old prop is also celebrating a new three-year contract extension worth close to $1 million.
    __________________________________________________ _____

I'm yet to see or hear one commentator ask how Canterbury can continue to chase and sign players to mill dollar contracts and stay under the cap? They must have one hell of a third party arrangement program happening over there at Belmore.

    Chook.

Maybe Sam Burgess is helping them with the sums?

FMD, and people still think the roosters are cheating the cap.
            Is that the full story,
            or is your news limited?

Says they're $200k under the cap, does Schubert examine all the 3rd party agreements or are they off limits to him??

All these 3rd party deals need to be made public. As I've posted here before (sorry, I know there are people here who are sick of hearing this from me), third party deals are meant to be with organisations that have no direct link to the club - e.g. if Coca-Cola decided to give SBW a million bucks just because he is famous (not because he plays for the Roosters). But I was told by a senior person at another NRL club that ANZ Stadium has "3rd party" deals with a number of Dogs players. If so, I reckon it's a rort - Coca Cola would get a benefit from a SBW just by association; ANZ Stadium benefit IF THE DOGS ARE WINNING GAMES (i.e. seats sold).

Oh... and guess where Todd Greenburg used to work?

Souff Sydney have a similar deal with ANZ. All these third party deals need to have the skin pulled off them in particular the Broncos and their throughoubreds which is a massive rort that's been going on for decades.

                  Chook.

So Schuey doesn't examine 3rd party agreements?? I don't get how he can include air flight tickets to get his Mum to the game for a player playing his 200th game, but these 3rd party agreements are off limits, makes no sense to me.

People talk about the Thoughoubreds association with the Bronco's as a rort, I don't know whether it is or not but they seem to get away with the concept, what i want to know is if the Roosters have an association with a group of buisnessmen as such and if not why not. If it's good for the Bronco's it would be good for us.

There was a very good article about Schuey and his position of absolute power a week or so ago in the SMH I think.

It was along the lines that he is a law unto himself. The clubs agree we need a Salary Cap and an auditing process but are unanimous in their disbelief that there is no appeals process or tribunal when Schuey has made a ruling. He has absolute autonomy. No one can question his decisions.

I doubt there is such a watchdog position in sport or general life, I can recall hearing about anyway, that doesn't have at least some sort of appeals process.

And as 66 and Chook have said what certain clubs are doing unchecked smacks of an agenda.

But don't let Teabags hear about another agenda. He doesn't like that word.

                          I don't know mate.

I do know there are rules for some and rules for others.

Look at the $BW debacle last week. Schuey was worried that a former board member of ours may have been paying $BW to work for his current employers Ch9, even though $BW has had that contract since 2008. An agenda I believe.

That hurt my head. Teabags and Agendas.

Mate if Lockyer can be paid 1mill a season but only show up as 250K on the Broncos cap books, that's a rort. There was an article by Roy Masters last year about this issue and he stated then that Lockyer was being paid 750K through third party deals set up by the throughoughbreds which are a group of rich bronco supporting businessmen who set up these deals. Alas the Broncs offer Darren 250K to stay and he accepts knowing the bulk of his coin is channeled through these third party scams.

                            Chook.

All their players retire and own a pub or a restaurant or a nursing home or do a sports report for papers or TV or sit on a board for a company or are the face of something.

Currently Lockhead is promoting Coal Seam Gas exploration in SE QLD.

But as he says, it's all for the love of where he grew up, that great QLD spirit.
