  • Billy "kick" Slater

Slaters kung fu defence kick last night was terrible.

Not the first time he leads with the slipper in a defensive way...very dangerous.

Needs a good holiday and wake up call from the judiciary.

Deliberate imo. He saw the tackler coming in & then stretched the leg.

Apparently he has not been charged over last nights incident. The commentators on 9 were saying that Slater is not that type of player and it was just a reflex action so no problem. How many players are suspended for a high tackle when an arm has been thrown out as a reflex action.
It seems that Slater is a protected species. If it was JWH or Friend who did exactly what Slater did they would have been immediately sent off. Not happy!!

If Slater played for us or it was one of our players you'd all be defending the bloke.

It was sensational but IMO not at all intentional.

Reflex action in trying to protect ones self in a position where he could get badly injured.

Slater had eyes for the ball only, Klemmer had eyes for Slater only.

In fact Slater saved the kid from being penalized or maybe suspended himself. He was only going to hit Slater in the air otherwise.

I don't see any correlation between this incident and his past indiscretions, sliding feet first at try scorers.

It's footy, sometimes accidents happen, that's the game we love, man sport. Harden up ladies.

                Get over it.

I'd be ecstatic if I saw a fullback for the Chooks jump into the air and take an awesome catch and then as he's coming down clip an opposing player in the face with his boot.

Yes his foot is there on purpose, but its purpose is as a deterrent for chasers to not tackle him until the foot is down. Ie. When he lands.

Klemmer would have gone right thru Slater last night. Storm would have gotten a penalty which isn't enough to deter players where as Slater 's boot should and will deter players from getting him in the air.

Self preservation. Self defense. I'd be happy to see more of it from other fullbacks.

It was an accident - but he attacked the 'head' of an opponent so he will be cited I'd say.

I had no problem with it. Slater had eyes for the ball and Klemmer took a dive and milked it for the penalty.

                            Chook.

The way Cameron Smith see's it, That Klemmer grub should have been penalized for coming into contact with a man in the air!!!
(even though he did not initiate the contact)
