ST GEORGE Illawarra's frantic search for a new playmaker has overlooked one very obvious candidate; former NSW Origin half Brett Finch.
Clubs struggling for direction are astonished that such an accomplished player is currently languishing in NSW Cup with the Melbourne/Cronulla joint venture feeder side.
But even if the suitors come calling, Finch is likely to stay put because the Storm have promised to take care of his post career path.
One option being canvassed down south is for him to coach the club's Holden Cup side next year.

The Finchinator and Steeden Cheeks Soward together as a halves pairing at the merge. lol
And here I thought the merge couldn't do any worse than Fien or Beale.
Make it so number one.
Chook.
