who do you consider to be the freaks of modern league?

what defines a 'freak'?
imo, someone that just seems to be able to create something out of nothing, the one that pulls off the all or nothing play when needed.
imo, players like cronk, cam smith, jt and the like aren't freak players. they are structured, they are smart, they have god footy brains, but they aren't freaks.
imo, players like barba, inglis slater and to a lesser extent sbw, as you said are freaks. others include hayne, carney, marshall, folou etc. they seem to do something that you've never seen before each time you watch them.

2010 carney was a freak but i guess that was his peak.same goes for hayne in 2009. Benji was a freak but looks fat and slow these days. Shaun johnson hasnt kicked on like i thought he would. I thought konrad hurell would carve up like twenties but he hasnt.

I'll go off on a tangent here, with different line of thinking. Inglis, Slater and Barba do freakish things. Inglis does it sporadically. Slater does it in very very good company. Barba does it sporadically, but has more faults than Slater and Inglis combined.

The most sustained freakish thing I have seen in football is the way Hayne took para to GF in 09. He did that with nothing around him. The other three previously mentioned do all their freaky stuff in good company and under momentum.

I'd have JT and Smith over any of them though.

You have every right to question Haynes demeanour for sure. But if you have seen a more freakish thing in footy than the 'run' Hayne took Para on I'll be surprised.
