why am i repling to a non rooster related thred. its not the off season .......

braith. with his camilian like existance, being able to disguies himself as a footy player for so long, being able to access backlines and totally disables any potencial. misses tackles if he can, be non committed to anything that may expose his ineptitudes, like team work, mate ship and cohesian as a team.

Jamie Lyon is a true freak.

Not the fastest, flashiest or the biggest centre in the game but is the best by a mile. Being outside him would be a dream.

A pure footballer, a leader and a hard carnt who HATES losing. A ball player, can run a line, hit a hole, defend, kick goals and set up supports. He makes others around him look better than they are.

        My favorite player.

Inglis is a freak. May be the most complete player I've ever seen. The only negative IMO is he's not a natural leader, at least not as yet. Brilliant to watch, shame about the teams he plays for, Souffs and QLD.

        The FlogPen .

        You know it makes sense.

Watching that game last night when Lyon came to support B Stewart for his try, it was like he knew Stewart was going to make the break before even Stewart knew himself. I don't see him as freakish as others mentioned though. Just knows his craft extremely well and s you mentioned an out and out competitor.

Ill throw this out there though, he may not be the fastest but can run the 100m in the mid 11sec range. Deceptively quick.
Shame he hates rep camps though, NSW really needed him over this 7 year period every game. I'd go as far to say that he would have kept Hodges out of the Aussie team all these years if he made himself available. He is a leader in a way that Tallis was with the way he plays the game but **** he can whinge to the ref with the best of them having learnt from a couple of sooks in Dessy and Tooves

Just look at him he does stuff he should never be physically able to. Like Diamond was, a pure footballer.

I'm big on blokes who get the job done first then worry about how easy they make it look.

Like my Man-Love for Maubs. He's not pretty, flash, big, fast or freakish. But when a ball needs to be dived on or a tackle needs to be made or a hole needs to be run thru you more often than not see Maubs playing that role.

I love footballers over athletes. I know I'm probably going against the grain here but IMO Lyon is a Freak. He's like Woody out of White Men Can't Jump, he's as good as Wesley he just isn't as flashy.

                    Agree 100% mate.

I believe he is over the NSW selectors. The way they picked him after others he was always better than, like Cooper, then used him when blokes were injured then dropped him again. He's a straight shooter and hates the politics of rep selections from what I have heard. I reckon Gus would have made sure he was he first player picked, probably as captain.

He's a winner. He HATES losing. And as you said deceptively quick. Can play anywhere as good a 5/8 as a centre IMO he'd be a great FB.

Reminds me of Daley and Freddy.

Did you see him catch that ball last night and drop it on his toe straight away and roll it into the in goal.
Now if Inglis or slater did that the commentators would wet themselves with excitement. One class player.
Wish we signed him when he up and left Parra. One of those what ifs??

Mr Backwards you are on the money again.
The game does not have enough "real" footballers, the recruitment has been far to focused on atheletes.

Gillette for Brisbane is a "footballer" amongst a team of atheletes.

The other reason I don't rate Csmith as high as others is he would have lasted about 4 weeks if he played in the 70s.

Your reason for not rating Smith sort of applies to %95 of first graders today. Plenty of the modern era players, who are considered in the top echelon of players, would have struggled with playing in the 70's. it was more vicious back then. The same can be applied to that eras top players. How would they have copped with the pace of today's game and the strength of the modern era players.

Diamond's courage was freakish. I was thinking of this last night when Barba attempted a half-arsed strip instead of putting his body on the line for one of Manly's tries. It is the exact same thing Mini has been doing his whole career.

Oops, not very clear. Mini is a half-arsed stripper... and I am not referring to stripping down to cheekless leopardskin undies.
