Widdop to Dragons 2014

Hi guys, surprised to see this hasn't popped up in the forums yet. Dragons has signed him on a four year deal for $2.5 million. Any thoughts on Widdop? From what I've seen he's got a decent running game and provides good support, he plays similarly to Mortimer but I've never seen him kick he ball that much. I think the Dragons paid way to much for him (not that I care). Personally I feel he is one of those players who look good playing at the Storm but will struggle elsewhere eg. Blair, O'Neill, Crocker (to a lesser extent), Finch.

the guy is a myth.
somehow, in a team where you are bound to be overshadowed by the likes of slater, cronk and smith, this guy is still overrated. he is made to look good by those three. he doesn't do anything.
although he is slightly better than soward, he wont solve their problems. the dragons are in all sorts, they need a major cleanout.

The money is insane but I don't think he is average. He is a decent footballer and is probably keen to step out of the shadows of those three.

I rate Thompson higher than Widdop by a long way.

I'd like to see Widdop in an average side before I change my opinion of him.

At this stage, I rate him as a decent player, but he was won lotto getting a contract for that much, is being paid way overs, at the moment, has to prove himself without the superstars around him, because he certainly wont have that luxury at Saints. But another player from Storm, I would love at the Roosters is Ryan Hinchcliff, I love the way he hits holes at full pace, and regulary as well, not just now and then.

I beg to differ. I think Widdop is an above average player. What they pay him is of no concern to me. Good luck to him.

For me based on what we would have paid, SaMoa may have been the buy of the year.

Not tall and not heavy but all wrecking ball. FPN should be made to publicly give up the title.
