I don't deserve the sack: Taylor

    Adrian Proszenko | September 13, 2009

EMBATTLED South Sydney coach Jason Taylor has broken his silence over the Sad Sunday incident threatening his career, claiming Kiwi international David Fa'alogo was a willing participant in ''kung-fu horseplay''.

Taylor's legal representatives released a statement claiming the coach's actions weren't a sacking offence after CCTV footage of the Forresters Hotel incident became public last night.

Taylor claimed he was not intoxicated during the Japanese-themed festivities which resulted in him being punched in the head by Kiwi international Fa'alogo.

The former halfback described the events leading up to the punch as ''pretend, light-weight kung-fu play'' and that Fa'alogo was a participant who was ''at least as willing … indeed more so''. The statement also claimed Taylor's actions and attendance at the event didn't constitute a sacking offence.

Taylor has until Tuesday to respond to a breach notice from the club to show why he should retain his job. However, it's understood a number of potential replacements have already been discussed. It's understood that Australian coach Tim Sheens, the early favourite to take over should Taylor be sacked, has no intention of shifting to Redfern.

The developments come as further details emerge from foundation club's booze-fest. The Sun-Herald has learned forward Garret Crossman was ejected from the premises after an altercation with hotel staff. Utility Shaune Corrigan, who locked himself into a toilet cubicle, was so intoxicated that he needed to be carried out of the hotel, while another Souths player also completed a nudie run outside.

I wonder if they have approached Freddy. He has the culture related to alcohol to slot straight into the seat. Also the way how many of our discards eg Soward and Finch have gone onto bigger and better things a change of venue might help his coaching career
