Both have incredible egos which are not justified.

I don't care if commentators don't profess their love for the Roosters as some here expect. Infact some of this precieved anti Rooster bias doesn't really exist. What I care about is commentators actually calling the game as it is and providing interesting insights.

No one at Ch9 can commentate,
Agree on all you've said KB, particularly the bit I've bolded. I remember watching the ABC as a young teenager on a Saturday afternoon growing up in the country as we only had 2 channels (Gosh, that makes me sound so very old now, imagine today's youth being satisfied with 2 channels!) and all I remember is the games were called in a fair and clear manner. No blustering, no over the top yelling, no half baked comedians or celebrities. Just footy, pure and simple...

Channels 3 and 5A for me growing up

I find Hadley annoying on the TV and a bit of that is the tinny sound the second fri night game seems to come with.

I do find Voss one if not the worst of all of them, he is the most arrogant and the most ignorant when it comes to RL. I was certainly happy when is ego got him punted

We had Channel 4 from Toowoomba and the ABC. We could also pick up Channel 7 from Brisbane on a good day.
Andrew Voss sat right in front of us for that 2010 semi against Wests. He's slightly less arrogant in person, maybe because he was there with his little boy and not actually working that night. Most of these commentators make my skin crawl these days.

Yeah, Gaz was a commentator with the ABC Sat avo. No nonsense calling.

Like a lot of the others in country areas all we got were ABC & Ch 8 (Lismore).
Still think there was more to watch on FTA back then than there is now with heaps of channels.

He stills calls QLD games on ABC radio, I don't really think he's much good, very QLD team biased IMO. Didn't Arty used to call the ABC Saturday arvo games with Boland, I think he was the guest commentator or technical caller rather than the play by play caller back in mid 80's I think? Can anyone confirm?

5A, I remember when the Ch 2 used to show the local rugby games on Saturday arvo and show the replay of the league at 6pm but a lot of the Sydney area could pick up 5A so you could watch the Saturday arvo league games live.
Also if you are talking about ch3 Newcastle, I lived less than a 100 meters from the old Sports Ground when I was growing up and NBN 3 was our clearest channel, go figure.

Yep 5A was fuzzy but very watchable in the ditch at Paddo, NBN 3 from Newcastle was crystal clear and Win 4 Wollongong was good too, ch 9 was crap.Could pick up 5A in Darlinghurst perfectly with rabbit ears when I lived there in the 80's.
Will make sure the Henniger is a lot colder on your next visit to work.

It was such a clear signal but every now and then the taxis combined frequency would cut across it
