  • Did any rugby league players teach at your school?

I just read a post about Ronnie Palmer and I thought about the football players who taught at our school. Palmer was our PE teacher and he had a bat he'd whack us with if we forgot our uniform... I think it was called 'Oscar'? Not a bad bloke... would say 'hello' and chat outside of school.
Another was Scott Gale... maths I think but I was never in his class... he might have been a student teacher? As a student, he once pushed me out of the senior's line.
The other was Pat English or 'Vegie' as we called him. He taught maths and religion. He liked talking about his exploits on the footy field. He was friendly but not very helpful.

Nah but Brendon Hall and Hugh Mcgahn had a fair bit to do with my school footy side at Clovelly Public in the 80's

Brian Cook, early 80s played a handfull of first grade games for Wests in the front row. Part time maths teacher at Marist Auburn, taught me a few times. Gave him hell cause I was a Chook supporter in the heart of Magpies territory. Ahhh the memories of the old wooden bench seats at Lidcombe oval watching the old kicking duels between Dorahy and Fairfax!!!

John Higgins was teaching at Marist Brothers Pagewood when I was there.
Not league but one of my teacher in 1980 Peter Lumsdaine played first grade for Manly rugby union.

Souffs half back from the '60's Jimmy Lisle was my PE teacher. He never liked me, copped plenty of luch time detentions from him.

My dad was a HS teacher and he taught and coached in the school footy team former Chook/Dog/Panther Paul Dunn.
