An AFL game certainly takes a hell of a lot longer than an NRL, as it is much more stop start which means they can include an ad break without any difficulty. And the extra two quarter time breaks give even more time for ads.

I've found AFL a very frustrating game to watch live, compared to the NRL. And I had to laugh at my friend I was volunteering with last time I went, who was determined it was half time when it was only quarter time, the first quarter had taken so long. The look on her face when she realised she had 3/4 still to go was priceless.

She hasn't organised a trip to the AFL for the group I volunteer for since. She's sticking to the faster paced NRL.
