From where I sit, South Sydney look ready to end their 43-year premiership drought

The last time South Sydney won a premiership most people still had black-and-white television sets. That's if they actually owned a TV – 1971 was such a long time ago. However, the way the Rabbitohs have played during the past three weeks, I suggest this is easily their best chance yet of breaking back into the winner's circle.

I have always believed that the potential premiership winner in any season starts to announce themselves during the final six weeks of the competition proper. South Sydney have certainly been the team that have taken their game to a new level in recent times. The way they handled competition leaders Manly on Friday night sent a clear message to all other contenders. It was powerful. I know Souths are trying to keep a lid on things so they don't get too excited too early. But from where I sit, the chemistry looks about right. Whoever beats Souths will win this premiership.

Lol so they must think Souffs are going to win 11 games straight (the 4 previous, 4 remaining and 3 finals matches). If they do it, hats off to them, but I highly doubt that will happen.

This bandwagon stuff for Souffs from the media will suit us nicely.

I would rather it happen after Burgess has gone.
The last 2 years $ouff$ have gotten all sorts of help to get a good position at the end of the year, then that help dried up during the final series. (thankfully).
Lets see what happens this year.

Yes he did, and there is every chance that Souths will win it if they keep playing like they did on Friday (even though Manly were quite poor). But this time a week ago, the media were talking up Manly as basically the only real chance of winning the comp; one loss later in probably their worst performance in two years and all of the sudden souths are the team to beat. Like I said they played very well and are no doubt contenders, but they definitely aren't certainties to win the premiership.

I also remember Gus mentioning a few weeks back that he believes the Roosters are the best team in the comp, and that our best is far and away better than anyone's else best. If we hit that 'go' button, then we are in with a real crack.

Last year Souths beat Manly in RD 23 and looked what happened....

Manly Are trying to do what what we did last year ..... have a down period before the finals. They have been definetly
down a gear the past 2 weeks since beating the Warriors in NZ.

                    For once they are right.

Last year I know myself and a few others didn't rate Souffs chances one bit, this year is different.

They are playing much better and the competition isn't as strong, IMO they are clearly the team to beat.

Agreed Souffs seem to have the missing element in there play (Keary ) this year.....they actually look pretty destructive up the middle withere forwards , and with Inglis fit - the gamebreaker....as much as I hate to utter these words , looks very much like a Souffs premiership will be 2014.....

Where Souths appear a better side to last year is they have some better outside backs as opposed to last year and so far Inmglis is playing on two legs not one like he did the last 6 weeks of the comp last year

Souffs will choke and implode regardless of who they meet in the semis. Refs try to let the games flow in the semis cause they all wanna ref the big one.
Which means no piggyback pens for the bunnys, they have to get up the field under their own steam.
