Ch 9 announced recently that it'll be televising an NRL match live on Sunday afternoons next season, and there'll possibly be 4 quarters or 'slow setting of scrums etc' for matches...so ads can be squeezed in.

Nothing of course to do with that "3.6 million less tv viewers of NRL games this year."
    Wrong you egg, both counts.

Been driving mrs bb around the big city as she seeks employment.
'5 minutes ago' she was 25...then she blinked and she was 65.
        "Work 'til you're 70"...LOL
        Another joke.

Have not had time to read all the papers lately.
        However,

        http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/l...03-10bzz8.html

NRL chief executive Dave Smith has told apprehensive club supremos that independent directors will not be forced upon them if they already have their houses in order, saying the competition's landmark governance reform would be implemented on a case-by-case basis.

Smith met with club chairmen on Wednesday, tasked with trying to quell an increasing mood of discontent in club land towards League Central.

Central to the concerns of club heavyweights has been the belief that they would have to adopt a standardised directorship model based on what is being assembled at Wests Tigers, with three independents on a seven-member board. But Smith said teams would not be compelled to comply with a one-rule-fits-all policy.

After meeting with a delegation that included Canterbury's Ray Dib, Sydney Roosters boss Nick Politis and St George Illawarra's Warren Lockwood on Wednesday, he indicated that some clubs would not even have to install independent directors to meet the minimum standards required under the soon-to-be-introduced new funding model.

        #####

Why were the Chairmen outraged and 'at war' with the NRL over this?
        Yes exactly.

The plan is to introduce a later 4pm kick-off time to allow the network to show live footy into its news bulletin and hopefully lift sluggish NRL ratings.

Yes, 'sluggish NRL ratings'....fans are switching off...in droves.

BB, read the article STSAE linked again. It clearly states that the NRL will NOT force Directors on clubs who have their houses in order.

As I originally posted, I thought that the clubs that will be bailed out financially, in the future, will no doubt have this option included as a safe guard.I personally wouldn't have a problem with that. You help out a financially stricken club there must be some sort of proviso to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Financially sound clubs should have nothing to fear. And rightly so.
            That'd be Easts

              No need...I read it thoroughly.
The Chairmen listed above, obviously believed [as bondi-boy ilk did that their boards and clubs were under threat from the policy Smith and the NRL were spruiking.
Now the NRL's position has changed or been clarified by Smith at that meeting with the Chairmen...and the war is over.
