  • Josh Lewis with Sharks now...

Another player who will look to force his way into the Cronulla halves during the year, is the well travelled Josh Lewis.

After debuting for the Roosters in 2006, Lewis has had stints at the Gold Coast and Balmain.

He had decided to take a year off after failing to secure a full time deal with a club in the off-season but a phone call from Stuart convinced him to give it one last shot.

Still only 24 years of age, the attack-minded Lewis believes he can boost the Sharks' poor try-scoring record.

"I'd like to think so, hopefully I can get up there and play some good footy," said Lewis.

"I guess we'll see how they play and how I play and with injuries and stuff.

"Sticky (Stuart) just said play well, organise well and see what happens. I don't think he's too scared of making changes so if he has to make a change hopefully I'll be able to throw my name up there.

"I'm an attacking player, I like to try things, and I've got a good kicking game so they're my main strengths."

I know some of you really won't care for this news. That's fine. You can leave now.

I just thought it was interesting to see where he's gotten himself now.

Obviously Ricky must have been a fan of some sort.

I think he has talent. Doesn't seem like he's able to apply himself. Will probably be another dud year for him.

I'd still like to see him play though. I like creative attacking players.

I wish him well at the Sharks. I liked his style when in RWB.
Haven't followed his career since he left us...

I wish him the best. I really thought after leaving the Titans to go to the Tigers he would get an opportunity at that club considering they definitely lacked a half-back. Hopefully Ricky can get the best out of him but we all know Ricky Stuart cant coach halfbacks.

From what i saw of him he was a talented player with a lot of guts, hope he does well, but not against us.

I actually thought he had a lot of talent but didn't seem to develop. When he first started at the Roosters, I thought him and Soward would be long term halves. Neither developped much in the way of organisational skills though.

From memory I didn't think Ricky gave him much of a chance and the Roosters (had him and Soward playing reggies). Curious then that he is giving him a run at the Sharks.

He is a trouble maker. 4 clubs in basically as many seasons says it all.
Loved by few, hated by many, respected by all.

Tbh.. i was guttered when he left us.. loved the big step and the big boot. But now in hindsight, it was probably the correct thing to do.

At the Sharkies, he'll be behind Barret, Porter and Kelly. Oh well, an opportunity is an opportunity.

                  ahhh josh lewis.

has some good skills.....problem is.....the attitude.

Left the roosters cause he did not get what he wanted, went to gold coast, saw minimal 1st grade, went to Balmain/ryde and saw NO first grade.

                  Now the sharks.............

I wonder how Lewis feels when he sees Soward on the TV all the time. They were a good combo and both had good skills. It's interesting to see Soward went up... and Lewis got lost.

Yeah. Brown didn't seem to be a big fan of Soward. Was yo-yoing him up and down from the team. Same story as at the Roosters.

I wonder how much Soward's St George debut against the Bennet caoched Broncos contributed to Bennet's opinion of him and therefore his long term support. Soward played really well in the first game and his kicking game was excellent. I think St. George may have won by a Soward field goal?

If he didn't do so well in that one game, maybe he'd still be languishing like Lewis.

I'm a big Soward fan though. I always believed in him I think he'll get better in the coming seasons as his long term confidence builds.

There is no doubt soward has skill, i mean gould was using jamie as a double for lockyer at SOO training while Jamie was playing premier league.

i can tell you now, soward will get better due to bennetts tutelage, if it was anyone else as coach, soward would be looked at as another lewis, a bucket load of talent, but could not take the next step.

Like i said, if bennett was not at the dragons....

Not to mention Bennett setting up a system that highlighted his strengths and covered his weakness.....

If he doesn't have to tackle, kicks from 20 metres behind the ruck and otherwise doesn't touch the ball in his own half he is the next Andrew Johns.
