Actually you know nothing about me.Your statement is an opinion, You are though very kind to take a whole week out of your life to visit your grand parents on a yearly basis.Next time you are there do pop down to Bonny Hills and visit. My door is always open.

Its hardly like he is on a pittance at Canterbury though

TOK the public knows a lot about the Hannant circumstances: he used homesickness to justify leaving the Roosters, and the CEO of his current club has publicly stated Hannant has expressed the same concerns in Sydney. So it is not just a case of "believing what is in the papers" written by "pesky journos", this information is fairly cut and dry. It has been publicly stated by the individual and the club.

Perhaps calling Hannant selfish is moralising slightly, but calling his decision stupid is not. The fact he left Sydney once for homesickness only to return and suffer the same thing is mindless - the definition of insanity is to try the same thing over and over again expecting different results. It is also worth criticising Canterbury for investing in damaged goods like Hannant.

I do not expect their approval like you are suggesting, but once their very public decisions come back to bite them in the arse, they deserve to wear the criticism.

Actually he did not really have to justify leaving Easts at all.He was off contract

One of the stated reasons for not re-signing was that he and his wife were not happy in Sydney. Considering they knew they did not like life in Sydney, it was silly of them to think they would not be homesick when he signed for Canterbury.

I don't see a problem with Ben's decision as long as he makes an effort for the Dogs in 2010 and then is released for the final year of his contract.

It's not as if it's in any way out of the ordinary, there are players gaining early releases from their contracts left right and centre to suit themselves at every Club.

As I said, the key is that he makes the effort for this year and doesn't leave his current club up shyte creek without a paddle for 2010.

I suspect his wife spends a lot of time up on the GC now with the kids whilst Ben stays alone in Sydney, and he's over that arrangement.

Hannant rhetorically asked in SMH this morning "Can you put a price on that lifestyle and upbringing for your family?"

So evidently the man himself has realised that the "decision... made for financial reasons to set themselves and there [sic] kids up" was the wrong one for his wife and his kids.

Maybe you yourself have never made one in your life but people do make mistakes. I wont begrudge anyone who makes a decision for what may be the betterment of ones family

Thats a fair point, I never claimed to have never made mistakes. The difference is that Hannant gets paid for being a public figure, and his mistakes are of interest to the public.

I wish him and his family well at Brisbane or Gold Coast, but this second foray into Sydney has left him and Canterbury with egg on their face.

But leaving your kids with the grandparents is unforgivable.
