    This is my possible scenario:

Storm Mgt - Yes Mr Brendan Funch we would like to see you at the Storm but we have salary cap restraints..How about we pay you $80K on the books and we give you a further $60K cash..

Mr Funch then has a discussion with his player manager/agent, and then they agree to these terms..

Everyone involved knows about the rort..

Players and player agents are going to go down hard...
    and Gould has his

    they're both only "possible"

perhaps wait and see who ends up being right, before you call him an imbecile

there's a chance he might know more about it than you ptb

Happy days for Gould - he gets to sink the boot into the NRL administration yet again and bore us all with his so called 'solutions', which is basically to throw more money at the players.

He just can't get it through his head that the majority of clubs can't afford more than what they are already spending, and that not every club has the luxury of an Uncle Nick, a Rusty & PHACWit or a News Ltd. And it's the ones that do that the ones likely to rort the bloody system because they can.

More money only means more people with their hand out and more greed.

It doesn't improve the game of rugby league though.

And who pays, the fans, no one else.
People are calling for the cap to increase, why because players can get money else where. Unfortunately in the real world that isn't good enough.
You pay for the "real" market and at the moment players are being paid according to an artificial market

If there wasn't a binding TV rights agreement that stipulates 8 matches a week, Melbourne would be gone. I still think there's a good chance they'll fold

His argument as to how you can either spend money and rort the cap or be like Cronulla is flawed, because if no one rorted the cap, Cronulla would be more able to compete
Goudl was an idiot...saying u need that muich money to make your team look and play like that...but even if there was no cap or atleast a bigger cap...the salaries would just be bigger across the board and we'd end up the same. plus there isn't 16 slaters or inglis to go around. Normally i like his comments. but last night he sounded like a tool

I am not really for or against raising the cap. And know there are not 10 or 20 Slaters or Inglis's out there. I just think Gould makes a valid point, that players like Newton, orford, King, Ryles and the like leave to go overseas befor they really should.

If we could afford to keep these player in the comp a bit longer, the younger blokes would have to serve an apprentership in some form of reserve grade, would not be payed massive amounts as a 20 year old, and could have a few older blokes around to guide them.

I don't think the game or some clubs can afford it now. but I don't see it as a bad thing.

Holy Hell, Gus just arse raped Gallop on the Footy show !

As much as people think gus can be a knob, and yes he can be sometimes, he really kept to his guns about the whole issue with the storm and the salary cap and really drove his point home.

Gallop looked like a stunned mullet

Gould will have his wish shortly, Gallop will quit within weeks it is clear that he has had enough and it has got to the stage his health is suffering.

                      Fletch,
That would be sad. Whilst not the greatest administrator we've had in the game, he is the most sincere, honest and disciplined. I'd hate to lose him. It would be to the game's detriment.
Perhaps, we should all cool off and allow the emotion to ebb away.
God, I hope you are ill-informed.

Gould is being a complete knob.
Lets attack Gallop because Melb are cheats, lets attack Gallop because the NRL found out.
The NRL have done their job and the "non contributors" tp the game are up in arms and on the attack.
Gould may have been a contributor as a player and a coach, but now as are most of the media, he is a "non contributor" to the game of RL.

Exactly, which is why it would be preferable if he could deal with this current situation, then maybe move on at the end of the season once everything has calmed down.

He is a good man to have at the helm currently.

If Gus had his way we would end up with 8 clubs a SuperLeague ironically enough. I didn't think Gus was in favour of that.
