    I agree 100%

Gus clearly dislikes Gallop and took the opportunity to stick it to him.

Gus gave no solution to the problem at hand.

Agree 100% Gould totally lost me with his rant. They ****in cheated, they should be OUT. Not play at all, and be forced to play $700,000 BELOW the cap for the next 3 years. Give 2 points each to the 4 teams they beat this year and two points to every other team they havent played yet. Then the rest of the games scheduled against them can be byes with no points awarded.

I agree in principle with all of this but the problem with automatically awarding 2 points to every team who plays Melbourne this year (byes, in essence) is that some sides will get an automatic 4 points if they were scheduled to play Melbourne twice, others (like the Roosters) will only get 2 points. Plus, it's not preferable for clubs to have 3 or 4 byes in the season.

Maybe with a rearrangement of the fixture list, it could be evened out, but this would be extremely difficult.

Either way, any solution will be imperfect.

He wants to exonerate the players and player managers...

          This is my possible scenario:

Storm Mgt - Yes Mr Brendan Funch we would like to see you at the Storm but we have salary cap restraints..How about we pay you $80K on the books and we give you a further $60K cash..

Mr Funch then has a discussion with his player manager/agent, and then they agree to these terms..

Everyone involved knows about the rort..

Players and player agents are going to go down hard...
Agreed. The manager works for the player, not the other way around.

              PTB I disagree.
Generally if the club is interested they go straight through the player-manager not the player

What made me laugh about Gould's rant is that he listed all the players that had started with the Storm and declared that because they started with them, the Storm had a right to keep them.

Bloody hypocrite - If Gould had thought like that when he was coaching Brad Fittler never would have left the foot of the mountains and would have been a Panther for life. Penrith developed him and made him into the player he was only to have Gould and the Roosters pilfer him with buckets of coin.

Fact is when Gould was coaching he didn't give a damn who developed the players, it was all about the money he could offer them to come to his club.

And it's still about the money to this bloke. That's why he doesn't like the salary cap. He'd rather have 4 teams in a comp who can pay whatever they like than 16 teams with some restraint on their finances.

The salary cap was bought in to save clubs from themselves, from going broke. But because Gould only now associates himself with powerful clubs who will survive, he doesn't give a shit about the others.

It's a credit to David Gallop that he makes an appearance on the Footy Show - he knows he's on a hiding to nothing and that Gould will attack him and because of Gallop's position, he has limited scope to retaliate. Fact is David Gallop is a far more credible individual than Gould ever was and ever will be.

Gould irritates the crap out of me with his hypocritical yammering.

This is the bloke whose never put his hand in own his pocket to support rugby league, has taken more than his fair share out of the game, and still expects the dollars to magically flow in from somewhere. He's however never made it clear exactly where the money is to come from. I'm sure many people involved in the game would appreciate his advice on which streams they should be panning to discover these supposed rivers of gold.

Gould is just as much a puppet as Gallop, he just has different (and many) masters.

Gallop had credibility because he has the good of the game at heart. Gould only has the good of Gould at heart.

Gould was paid handsomely for what he did for the club, and remember that when he decided he had enough he just up and left without notice in the offseason, leaving the Roosters to scramble for a coach.

Gould has only ever been about Gould, not about the Roosters, not about any club he's been involved with. That's why he couldn't wait to run from the Vermin whom he was supposed to be assisting to reenter the comp to return to the Roosters after he had orchestrated Stuart's arrival.

I believe that he has a large input in the decisions that are made. One individual on his own will never have the power where the NRL is concerned, there will always be other decision makers in the background.

Bring on the independent commission I reckon. At least it will improve the transparency.

The only commentator who will ask Gullup and NewsRL the questions that matter. Hes no company man, he looks after himself and his interests, which luckily one of those is our club. We would be Souffs of old, IMO, without Gus and what he bought to the joint.
