surely some of these can't be right. How on earth can Pearce be on 350k? surely these figures from the Tele are rubbish

Although Pearce is on something close to that figure, not every player is. It is just their "market value".

These figures seem a bit peculiar - I would not be happy if my club was paying $300,000 for Leahroyd Lahrs or $275,000 for Douglas or Ferguson.

That was the figure he re-signed for for 4 yrs, 1.5 over fours years from memory

Some of those values are inflated to create debate.

You can replace 'some' with 'most' and 'create debate' with 'sell papers'.

275K for Douglas is fine. That kid churns through huge yards and tackle counts year after year, he has been doing for years, what Tolman does now, has missed NO games of first grade since debuting, and is a tower of strength at a young age. Top player.

With Melbourne over the cap, I think we should definitely make a play for Aiden Tolman. They can't keep all their players and stay under the cap. Plus Tolman is a New South Welshman which could be another incentive for us to recruit him.

500K for Lockyer? holy crap im assuming that was signed 6 years ago as part of a long contract? I would not pay him more than 100K

If Anasta is on $375k, Lockyer should be on $750k at least. Maybe he used what we paid Bwaith to push his price up.

                        Market rates.
I wish people would not talk about market rates, when the market is inflated and imaginary.
If it was market rates then the salary cap would be a huge amount less.

I'm surprised they didn't put Hayne at 900k considering how much they talk him up.

The AFL are probably stupid enough to sign him up to the GWS team for that amount of money if they were dumb enough to sign up K Hunt.

I'm still waiting for the media circus that will be his first season.

I almost can see this happen.

Lots of media around him for the 1st half of season.

Starts fizzling out as people realize he isn't worth that much money.

He fades out and the club releases him.

He crawls back to the Broncos who give him a juicy contract as if nothing has ever happened.
