unless you want to have a comp like the EPL, where there are only 3 or 4 winning chances every year.

and unless you want to pay $100 to go to a game

interest in the NRL is unprecedented, mainly because anyone can beat anyone on a given day
    "Unprecedented" where?

I'm assuming you only mean in this country.

I think it was just a word that the teacher told him to use in school today.

The cap will give us a close comp and will it keep some of the less financial clubs in the game, but it will also create a state of mediocrity as the better players will leave to join other comps or codes for vastly more money. It's already happening surely no one can deny the fact.
With no cap i believe we would end up with a dozen or so super clubs and a incredible comp that would attract a huge national and international tv audience.

Who plays in another comp that would make an NRL first-grade team..??

            Gasnier maybe..

            SBW maybe...

            Tim Cahill maybe....

Players go to England for a reason. Sure the money is good, but it is generally because they are not good enough to compete in the NRL anymore...

If the second tier competition, (ie NSW cup & Qld cup) were much stronger comps, then I would agree with a lot of what you are saying Murray..

But they are as weak as piss...

Totally agree Murry. But the AFL and soccer have a cap in this country. Those competitions are as even as the NRL. Their caps a much more flexible than the NRL's. Structured differently to each other but allow the best players to earn what they can. I would say that their competitions are run much better than the NRL. I am all for a cap but our existing structure needs to be reviewed.

Most of those playing in the UK would be first graders here. They left for money.

Why do we have this artificial limit on players earning capacity ? its not allowed in the corporate/business world ?

Why is News Ltd so in favour of regulation and control in the back pages of their newspapers yet against it in their EGN parts of the paper.

This is a company that is all for the free market yet denies the players of the toughest game in the world their right to determine their price.

Hypocrisy and double standards. What are these carnts motivations ?

The only artificial thing about it is that its not tied to the "real" market of the NRL, its way above.

Of course there is a limit in the corporate/ business world, but its tied into a different set of criteria. If a company kept increasing the price of their product to accomodate inflated salaries then the company would go out of business.

Theres is no cap on salaries in say the Utilities sector, if there was some of the better employees would go seek employment in resources and dilute the quality of personnel within Utilities ( for example )

That is what is happening within League and will continue to happen

Matt King, Stuart Fielden, Fitzy and that prop we are supposedly chasing.

The NRL would be of a higher standard if others didn't go over there due to the archaic salary cap restraints, whether I would want them at Easts or not.

I like all three of those players too..

But Sing is 54 in the shade..

Fielden wants to be the best in his home comp..

And Fitzy...well we all love Fitzy, but his time has probably come and gone in the NRL..

So no matter how much money we could offer them, They would not be at Easts IMO...
