Captain Backwards and Imadog's posts sum it up for me - this is pure deflection and surely there are more important things to be addressed. Leave the numbers alone and while you're at it, cut the price of jerseys to something more reasonable than $160.

I'm not a fan of individual numbers but wouldn't care if it went ahead. My boy is a raiders fan ( I tried hard to steer him onto the roosters but you gotta reward kids making their own choices) and wants Alan Tonue's number on his jersey but Tongue switches between hooker and lock every second week so it makes it hard to know which one to get him.

I'd like to see players wearing their club socks in rep games similar to the NFL (they wear their club helmets in all star games). I think the barbarians do this in rugby union too.
