We have a supply-and-demand, monopoly-of-the-market based capitalist system. If people wanted to watch rowing for hours on end every weekend, rowers would be paid a shitload of money. But they don't.

To use an incredibly simple example, let's take food at the SFS. Because people want a pie with their footy, they can charge $40 a pie, because there is nowhere else to go. People could bring in sandwiches before the game, but they don't, because they want their ****ing pies!

There's no reason NRL, which has better revenue than Union and AFL (I think?), shouldn't pay their players as much as other codes. Hayne earns them a motherload of money each year, and should be paid accordingly. It's all very noble of us to go up in arms about the privilege of playing for Australia, but the reality is, the society we live in has little room for honour.
No its about a bloke whinging because he could not charge $100 for the pies and another one just doing his business happy he has his cut lunch.

I would not think that RL has close to the revenue that RU has, based on its an international game, AFL I have no idea, but do find it hard that the most popular football in 4 states - AFL outrates (or has less income) the most popular football game (maybe) in 2 states. - RL
