  • Jason Cayless

I was wondering why he has not been in their team and though he may have been dropped so I looked at the website.

His is listed in the injuries with a knee and return indefinite.

    That's bad luck for him.

I was looking forward to seeing him run around.

He's had troubles with his knees for years. Thats why i was glad we got Ryles instead of Cayless. We made the right choice on that one at least.

A few weeks ago the Tigers were playing and I was walking through Church St in Parramatta and who should I see but Jayson Cayless eating dinner, whilst they were playing.. He is very much on the outer there.

Sounds like he is a passionate Tiger.

From 2002-2007, Jason was one of the best and most hardworking props going around. We couldn't have won as much as we did without him:

              2002 - 18 games, 8 offloads, average 10 runs for 83 metres, average 23 tackles

              2003 - 27 games, 9 offloads, average 11 runs for 96 metres, average 26 tackles

              2004 - 20 games, 16 offloads, average 10 runs for 91 metres, average 23 tackles

              2005 - 18 games, 20 offloads, average 14 runs for 125 metres, average 28 tackles

And then in his outstanding time in his first two years with St Helens:

              2006 - 24 games, 40 offloads, average 14 runs for 114 metres, average 20 tackles

              2007 - 25 games, 52 offloads, average 14 runs for 103 metres, average 18 tackles

But 2008, 2009 and 2010 were all plagued by serious knee injuries that have seen him underachieve significantly in this time. In these three years (assuming he doesn't play for the Tigers first grade side again this season) he has only played a total of 20 games, with 11 offloads, an average of 11 runs for 78 metres, as well as an average of 15 tackles. This year, he has played a very low amount of minutes, his fitness looked down, he made little to no impact at the line, and couldn't break a tackle to save his life. It is a shame how the mighty have fallen, seeing strong clubmen like Minichiello, Hegarty, Cayless succumb to injury, poor form, etc.
