  • Michael Gordon not wanted at Panthers

    http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,...018866,00.html

We better be bloody looking into this kid. He is VERY fast, an outstanding finisher, kicks goals at better than 90%, great in defense, great under the high ball, and is equally comfortable at centre or wing.

2006 - debuted in Round 8, played rest of the season

18 games, 11 tries, 16 linebreaks, 64 tackle breaks, average 8 runs for 73 metres,

    2007 - missed Round 12, 16, 17, 20, 21 with minor injuries

19 games, 9 tries, 12 linebreaks, 86 tackle breaks, average 9 runs for 92 metres

2008 - missed Round 1, 2 with minor injury, missed Round 11-18 with serious injury

15 games, 11 tries, 12 linebreaks, 65 tackle breaks, average 9 runs for 73 metres

2009 - missed Round 8-18 with serious injury

15 games, 3 tries, 7 linebreaks, 49 tackle breaks, average 11 runs for 96 metres

    ---

As it can be seen, he is a great try scorer, can break the line well, also busts tackles at will, but his biggest issue is that in 2008 and 2009 he had quite serious injuries that led to him missing a significant chunk of the season. But so far this season he has looked great, still has that lightning speed of his too, and is still a sharpshooter with the boot.

Dare I say, we should be seriously making a play at this bloke.

i read this yesterday, i was suprised that the Panthers a considering cutting him loose.

But with the possiblity of the Storm being broken up, alot of players like Gordon will be sacrificed by teams for the likes if inglis, slater, cronk or smith.

he is definatly worth a look !

On a side note, we have been STRONGLY linked to England front rower James Graham, and recently also linked to France captain and backrower Olivier Elima. Both are very established players in the Super League - Graham developed from a solid impact bench prop in his first few seasons, to the premier prop of the ESL, and Elima has taken his game to another level, from an average interchange forward to a linebreaking backrower, since moving to Les Catalans in 2008.

              James Graham

              2005 – 21 games, 4 tries, 2 linebreaks, 8 tackle busts, 15 offloads, average 9 runs for 65 metres, average 15 tackles

              2006 – 23 games, 8 tries, 15 linebreaks, 40 tackle busts, 42 offloads, average 14 runs for 102 metres, average 22 tackles

              2007 – 26 games, 6 tries, 5 linebreaks, 42 tackle busts, 37 offloads, average 15 runs for 108 metres, average 23 tackles

              2008 – 24 games, 8 tries, 4 linebreaks, 33 tackle busts, 37 offloads, average 22 runs for 157 metres, average 24 tackles

              2009 – 25 games, 7 tries, 2 linebreaks, 56 tackle busts, 24 offloads, average 26 runs for 189 metres, average 25 tackles

Management realized that one player taking up 15% of the cap space is not beneficial to a team. I'd rather get Graham from uk and Gordon for the price of Inglis.

Graham will top off our pack, make it MUCH better IMO.

Ryles, Friend, Graham, Symonds, Aubusson, Myles...Cherrington, Hargreaves, Nuuausala, and Jones/Jorbs/Foran.

Massive props, mobile backrowers, high workrates in the starting pack, great impact off the bench. Looks promising. Graham is a player who I rate higher than most NRL props - he is probably not as good as Petero or Price, but he is better than Hannant, Weyman, Shillington, Scott, Kite, etc.

Id take James Graham in a heartbeat! Great worth ethic, and if it hasnt been said has won the prestigious Man of Steel award in 2008. He is class and would adapt quickly to the NRL.

completley agree and have been saying this for a couple of years. he is very quick, can bust tackles, cover the entire backline and is solid in defence. He will never ever be one to break the bank either he would be a top class signing and good replacement for mini imo.

Signing Inglis would be as beneficial to our club as it was when we signed Freddy..

Anyone who can't see that is blind..

The man is the most freakish outside back (who has proved he can play 5/8th at a pinch) to play the game since Brett Mullins...& we all know what happened when we took the punt on signing him...He made Hegarty look like Renouf in the '02 GF..

Signing him should be considered a priority if he is available..
