  • Thurston Cleared

Well Thurston has been cleared after previously being suspended for one week for telling off a ref during Last weeks Manly vs NQL match.

I think thats a joke, he started off by saying that the ref should get MOM for manly.....That alone is thurston saying the ref was bias and cheating.

and thurston is let off ! It is obsurd. Ryan phelan, on fox sports on monday night, went off about the swearing and the effect on children.....he was way off the mark.

What he should have been going off about was Thurstons actions towards the Ref and the disrespect shown. forget the swearing, the manner and action that thurston took is a bad example for young players.

You don;t go around on the field saying a ref should get MOM for the opposition.

The Refs get things wrong, we all see it yes, but regardless if they get it wrong, you do not act like thurston did.

If i was that ref, i would have sent the prick off.

    100% agree.

Wait for the spin the doctors put on the ruling to try to justify Thurston's innocense.

Do the NRL really believe we are so stupid as to not see through this?

If you were Jason Ryles, the ref would have sent you off.

Some players like some clubs even some states get certain "immunity" to penalty often in this NewsRL we watch Muzz.

Im honestly more surprised he was charged originally, hes such a nice bloke, its of course not in his nature, its just that famous QLD competitive spirit that forces these blokes to intimidate reffs. Tallis and Wally were experts.

        You know it makes sense.

When Ryles got binned gainst the Knights we were still in the game.

He didn't use bad language either.

It cost us dearly and now Thurston gets absolutely no sanctioning!

          Outrageous.

Apparently 2 of their arguments were:

            1) the footage and audio has been posted on the NRL site so it is acceptable

            and

            2) there is more swearing in Underbelly.

They have totlly missed the point, it is not about the swearing, it is about the disrespect that thurston has shown to the refs !

The upside is that Souffs will be in uproar that they'll have to face a full-strength Cowboys.

And they wonder why there's a shortage of referees at the junior level.

This was a perfect chance for the NRL to get on the front foot about this issue. After finally doing something good by letting first year refs at junior level wear a different coloured jersey to try and make sure they get a fairer go from the parents and players they **** it up with this shit as usual. One step forward, two back.

That's why I don't really mind the decision hehe

I'm more pissed off that the ref in question didn't stand up for himself and act on it. It's the same ref that I have seen time and time again talking down to players with a smug look on his face.

I don't care what anyone says, Hollywood Harrigan and Steve Clark were top referees compared to this rabble.
