  • New corner post rule

I reckon this deserves a new thread. My internet keeps d.cing so i don't want to keep going on it to send link, but this is the rule:

If someone touches corner post, then grounds ball for a try, its play on.

So it's like just playon if touch corner post

    thoughts??

I don't like this idea one bit..

This typifies whats wrong with the game.
Its an absolute disgrace, its nothing more than pandering to a bunch of ****ing circus clowns that call themselves commentators
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

I think it helps the kickers judge the try line.

As far as i know when the ball hits the corner post when not in a players hands (being kicked) it is deemed touch in goal as it is now.
I like the idea, all you have to worry about now is the line, i think you should see some great tries.

bullshit, the corner post IS the line, touch it and you're out. its a disgrace, the endless & useless twiddling with rules. there's never been any controversy on this rule, it's usually easy to see if the post is touched or not. they should leave well enough alone.

                      Voss just came.

In his defence though, those corner posts were a sham. They bend with contact and stay that way for the entire match.

                      I don't mind the rule.

crap, the old rule is fine, what was WRONG with it?

and now we have a rule in which if the player touches the post it's ok but if the ball, when kicked, touches it is touch in goal.

now, what if as the player tries to ground the ball the BALL touches the post?

Which is it? in or out?

And what if a defensive player trying to get out of in goal touches the post? Is he out of play in-goal or did he promote the ball into the field of play?

previously we had a simple rule which was not subject to interpretation. now we have a lot of extra exception clauses.

simplicity is always to be preferred.

the thing is they could solve that with technology - i.e. specify a corner post that doesn't do this.

Anywhere else on the field you can be over the line mid air as long as your last contact with the ground was in the field of play so I don't see why the corner post shouldnt be the same... and the new rule says that if the player is still holding the ball then it dosent matter if it touches the post. I dont think its that confusing and its common sense..
