has there been a more overrated player in the history of professional sports? future immortal???
I just dont see it, he does nothing but put bombs on the last, and 2nd man passes to the fullback, yet gets all the credit whenever the Broncos win. Sure he has some good touches now and then, but surely as a 5/8 he is miles away from Fittler, Daley, Kenny, or even Lamb and Lyons league. Even at fb I would not rate him as highly as Slater.
Lockyer: good player...yes. Future Immortal.....**** NO
If not for him we win by 50? wtf....in what way??Parker, Thaiday and Wallace carry that team. In regards to Qld, if Lockyer isnt there, they still have that golden patch...if Thurston isnt, they dont. I truley do not understand the hype....what has he ever done at 5/8 that any other 5/8 dosnt do week in week out. All those premierships and origin wins can not be put down to him alone, any1 who sais so is an idiot. Lockyer MOST OVERRATED EVER.....second on the list....WALLY LEWIS. Qld myths!
Because of his leadership Pimp. He never panics, never loses his cool.
i agree to a point, he has always been surrounded by great players, brisbane/qld/aus
lets not forget he was also part of qld for years before their late great period when they wernt winning (before slater, inglis, thurston, smith, and the like)
so while i think he is a very good player, ive always thought he was overrated, and surely not an immortal
but a myth? is quite a silly statement, and adding lewis? even sillier

Ahhh the leadership...thats right. So its not the fact that he made 2 handling errors, 3 missed tackles, 0 try assists, 0 line breaks, 0 tries, 64m from 9 runs that stopped them from losing by 50...yes yes the leadership. What exactly did this consist of?? i forgot that the broncos arnt professional athletes and would panic like children if lockyer wasnt on the field....but what are his leadership qualities? kicking a bomb on the last??? wtf does he do to warrent all this love?

Its the 50 winnie reds a day gravely voice that they all dig Pimp.
Hes just old. He has no legs left when the game is played at speed. Still very expierenced and can use the weapons at his disposal better than most.
Very good player in his prime. Im sure he will be an "immoral", Ruprect will make sure that happens.

there's an old saying that applies to your inability to understand what makes Lockyer an all time great
He is a great player but not an immortal. Even by comparison to the most recent addition, if you put Joey at his peak and any 16 regular first graders in appropriate positions they would be a chance in a comp. Joey carried some pretty average Newcastle teams to finals footy and they literally couldn't beat an egg without him.
I don't think you could say the same about Lockyer. He has always been surrounded with more than $4.1 Million worth of cattle.
I remember a game that the Roosters played against him when we had Josh Lewis at 5/8th up at Gosford where he made him look ordinary. Johns, of course, took Lewis out in an illegal tackle. Soward was in the team too, so it's about four or so years ago.
If one of my more knowledgeable fellow members could put the date on said game, that would help.
