I'd love to know how these people were scammed - big con to dupe 100 people. They should have known better.

A mate of mine was involved in this actually. He was one of the scammed. According to my mate, he bought tickets off a bloke thru ebay (a dumb move in itself) and was promissed Cat A seating and all that business. He was told to meet the bloke outside the Novotel to collect the tickets. When they got to the ground, there were about 100 people waiting around, all for the same thing - the tickets. After about half an hour of waiting a courier arrived (small Indian bloke apparently) and handed out all the tickets - all 2 of them. In the insuing distribution, those who had bought the fake tickets became rowdy, demanding to be let into the game. Got quite ugly apparently. Nothing eventuated and the majority left in a puff.

My mate managed to get in though, largely thanks to scabbing a ticket of an independent seller at an immensely inflated price. Was worth it for him though - Merge scum. Was gracious in victory though which is very surprising.

So it was all done over eBay? Well, that should assist the police in their investigation because it gives something to track.

I can imagine what the group would have been like, 100 people grappling for the two tickets. Good to hear your friend got in.

And once again it all comes down to being vigilant.....

I know of several people that purchased resonabley priced tickets off ebay because they payed attention and asked questions.....

The people met days before the game, not outside the ground.....cash was exchanged, not money transfer of any kind, and the key to it all is checking feedback....it is the ebay reference code.....if you seller has good feedback, you an pretty well be assure they are ligit......

and once again DO NOT exchange money without seeing the goods.....i.e. not e-tickets...too easy to duplicate.......

i feel for all those scammed, it makes genuine ebay users look bad......

              Yeh that and ugly

I was enjoying a quiet ale right at the fence and watched laughing as the Public Order Officers (Goon Squad) subdued a couple of irate punters who obviously got skinned.
Not long after that i quickly finished my drink and bolted to the ticket scanner to see if my online purchased ticket was legit. Sadly it was !

Most of them were dudded by a site called Ticketfinder.
I met a couple from Rockhampton at the Novatel.
Prepaid 5 weeks previously, had a number of emails saying tickets were in the mail, then a courier would deliver, then pick up at novatel.
being from interstate, they had to rely on hoping it was all legit.
With airfare and accom, they were ouy over 2K.
                Not happy.

Done over ebay and a conglomeration of other 'scammy' type sites you'd assume.

Yea being amongst a rabble like that would be like living in The Block.

They're working out in an office on an industrial site in Rosebery, the cops have all the info now. Apparently refunds will be coming but i won't be holding my breath.
                    Best of luck.

Got my tickets on e-bay, and having bought there before, knew the drill.

I always want to meet face to face, done last monday before the GF.

They had to be physical tickets, and no cash exchanged until I saw them in person. If the seller does not want to do this, they are probably dodgy.

and ezy-tickets are always a no no for me, too easy (as the name says) to duplicate

There are shifty ****s everywhere, anytime a big event is on.

feel sorry to those that got duded, expensive lesson learned!!!!

                        Crikey

I was in bay 103 and the row behind me I heard some mrge supporters saying that people had entered with 2009 tickets, ands went to claim the seats. People were already in those seats, and when the people with 2009 tickets had this pointed out to them, they beat a hasty retreat, never to be seen again.

Security outed at least 10 blokes from bay 142 for the same reason, they entered the ground with paper tickets, luckily for the people who were refused entry, they kept their ticketek receipt to prove purchase

I would only purchase ezy-tickets had I purchased them myself and printed them out at home or work.

Sorry, but if you're going to buy online, you need to be more aware.
