RWB, Freo are specials if they can keep Sandilands on the park. He is a superstar. You're right, Geelong and Saints will go backwards - but still will make the top 4. It will be interesting to see how the GC and K.Hunt go......NOT.
GC, like most new sides, will struggle badly. I'm not sure about Geelong and St Kilda in the top four - Geelong could really slide. Then again I'm not sure about Carlton or Freo because they're so unreliable, but if their development continues, they have a great chance to finish top four and make a real dent.

Started the season with plenty of injuries. The last 15 games of the regular season they lost only three games as did Collingwood. Played with one young ruckman for most of the year who was thrown in the deep end after Campbell retired and Bailey and Taylor were injured for virtually the whole year and himself was coming back from major injury. We were getting very little ball all year because of makeshift backup ruckmen the likes of Hodge. As I said, if we can get a decent ruckman through the draft (currently looking at a trade for the Kangaroo's Hale) or Skipper/Taylor step up then that area should improve. If you want to write a team off with the likes of Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin, Rioli, Burgoyne and Roughhead (if he can fix his kicking back to 2008 version) then that's your choice. I think they are top 4 with Geelong, St Kilda and Bulldogs going backwards.

Good points. And 2011 probably still falls within their good crop's peak. The top four is wide open so Hawthorn could well make it.

I just think there is too big of a gap between Hawthorn's top six and their underbelly, which is bigger than most other top clubs. A lot of their midrange players (e.g. Sewell, who was dropped, and Ladson, who's on the trade table) don't have much improvement left in them. And as you say, they need better service from the ruck, which is one of the very worst in the comp.

I guess it depends on their elite players, esp. if Roughead and Franklin kick straight.

If Collingwood retain their hunger from this year, they are head-and-shoulders the best side in 2011. But, indeed, they struggle against Hawthorn.

And now this is definitely too much AFL talk for one thread!

Whack your money on the Coast. The newest venture should be due for one soon.

I think their squads too old. They badly need some new fresh young blood to invigorate them. I'm sure they will be up there but I don't think they can win a premiership with their current roster.

very juicy for Canberra. what are they paying to make the 8.. I would reckon that would be a obvious bet.

                  But I digress from RL...
                  What about Footscray? Any chance?

I think they are one of the teams that will go backwards next season.. I like Dragons, Tigers, Roosters for the 4 with possibly Canberra a chance of joining them (depending on Campese's return). I see Panthers, Gold Coast slipping back in to the bottom half of the 8. Manly missing out altogether.. The Bulldogs should push for a spot having spent another $6.8m on offseason signings and Souths as much as I hate to say it should make it next season.

Could be Parra or Gold Coast's turn in 2011.

I think Parra missed their big chance last year. Gold Coast perhaps if I catch your drift with the AFL moving in the NRL would love a successful side there next season though don't discount Canberra.

I know... I guess they think now that they may not have such a huge inury toll they'll be right up there.

After my faith in natural order has been shaken with no dragqueens choke, should souffs make the 8 next year I'll be looking out for a flying bloody pig.

Bulldogs and GC and Manly look pretty good to me.

Campo will be out for 3/4 of the season. They were looking for a halfback before he got injured and they still haven't signed anyone. They are hoping Barrett comes out of his retirement for one more year. They have nobody in the club that can provide them the direction that Campo provides. I doubt even Barrett can do that if he plays as too Monoghan and Gower. There isn't much around. I would have rated them a huge chance to win it next year but they will struggle to get in the 8. If they are close enough when Campo comes back then they may sneak in but I'd want decent odds at this stage.

But seriously, why would anyone have a bet 12 months out. There is very little value and the competition will be harder than this year.

Canberra were a missed goal from the prelim final and beat the Dragons twice this season without a halfback.. In fact the they have a terrific record in the past few seasons against the Dragons. Next season they have Brett White to replace Scott Logan (an upgrade) and Blake Ferguson.. they will be dangerous. to be frank I reckon the Dragons are decent value at this stage.

I think I'll take the 20/1 'on' that the Roosters are on the wrong side of the penalty count in over half their games. Although with Finch gone......naaah, forget it.
