Bouris's name was getting thrown around earlier in the year... wouldn't be a bad thing for us

Not the people who will tow the party line. Cullen and Bennett have formed probably the strongest brand in football in the Broncos. Their skills are extraordinary.
every club rorts the cap and some get caught some don't. theres a time when people wouldve said bellamy and waldron formed a strong brand in football at the storm. success is a funny thing that way.

and my opinion isnt biased or unfounded. maybe the evidence has been a little better covered up but google the thoroughbreds and tell me its unfounded. as for biased, i'd suggest the only person bias in this conversation is you.

and i too want the best people in the job but of course i want them to tow the company line-isnt the the whole basis of the commission so we can have consistancy and one set of rules and not people who are known to bend the rules to suit their own agendas. we certainly need input from football identities but to suggest people such as cullen webcke and even bennett who are so clearly bias towards the broncos is hardly independant.

What am I biased towards? I've picked people who are extremely successful in what they do. I've picked people who have outstanding skills as administrators, business people or people who have an exceedingly good knowledge of the game. I'm biased towards quality. Bronco-centric? I thought everything went to a vote. The other people on the commission won't vote for something that clearly benefits one club over the whole. Why would you want someone to tow the company line? Shouldn't there be free minds and free thinkers who put forward options not a party line. It's the only way this commission will work.

And it's unfounded until they get found guilty. Imagine gaol's if you were in charge of the justice system... You are not Judge Dredd. If you think you can do better then put some names forward... That goes for everyone else too. I had the guts to put names out there. If you don't play the game you don't make the rules.

Did I read somewhere that dumb**** 'super league lawyer' David Gallop wants, or insists to be chairman/on the panel of the "independant" commision ?????

If this is true, nothing will come of it. Just News/Nrl having a love-in, hearing opinions of how to better the game, and doing NOTHING.

And they have to keep that other dropkick Geoff Carr, (former Dragons CEO, and current ARL CEO & NSW CEO ) away.

            NO Gallop, NO Carr.

Unfortunately, I see nothing good coming out of this. Call me cynical, but as long as News controls the game, NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

well think how many criminals are running around the world because they are covering their tracks-doesnt make them innocent and certainly i am not someone who is going to bury my head in the sand about it.

and how can you possibly judge their quality knowing full well that their is and always will be a cloud hanging over their success-do you think it was coincidence cullen left when he did.... do you think its a coincidence the broncos no longer field an entire origin team without the thoroughbreds and bennett...and i never said anything about bronco-centric but yes that certainly seems to be where your heart lies... the need for independant people to toe a mutually agreed upon set of ideals from day one is exactly what we need, free thinkers and free minds get bought out, especially by people with agendas like the news ltd pond scum.

as for better names i dunno, id rather see business and administrators from outside rugby league. searle probably deserves a spot given his push and of course i think a good balance of nsw and qld RL as well as city and country reps are important. i'd like to see players in the mould of sterlo-someone with real football credibility rather than webcke but possibly even someone from the rlpa.

I believe that the QRL is insisting that anyone who has had a position in a club in the last three years can't be considered. So that's Nick and Bouris out.

The idiot grey man aka David Gallop will unfortunately be the first CEO.

We all want it but I don't expect much to change on the field.

I agree with the stance of the QRL re those who have held positions in clubs. Tbh, no matter who is part of the commission, the NRL is such a joke that I have very little confidence in anything changing for the better.

Who says I am burying my head in the sand? Yes, there is a question mark. No, they haven't been proven guilty, nor has anyone had enough evidence to justify an inquiry...

All seems like a big conspiracy to me.

I don't care where they came from. I care about what they do.

Yes, a set of ideals should be followed. But shouldn't those ideals be based around free thought and multiple options, where the best option is agreed on by the many, rather than the few?

Sterlo - you don't like News Limited but you want someone employed by PBL? It's just the same. I have no doubt he is credible and has league's best interests at heart, but being employed by a media company and being on the board is a conflict of interest. He has to quit PBL to be on the board.

I agree with people outside of league. That's why I mentioned John Howard. I'd like several people from outside of league as a matter of fact. I'd even be happy with a 50/50 split. That way it would be truly independent. Quality people are all that matter. Some other names I'd be happy to see from outside league:

                    John Coates
                    Malcolm Speed
                    Allan Fels
                    Frank Lowy
                    Gerry Harvey
                    Gail Kelly
                    Chip Goodyear

amen to that, they won the war and the peace and the spoils, now weve just been raped by them as spoils of war! we should tell them to jump and swtasrt our own rugby league, a league of excellence, by invitation only!

It would be a change to have someone on our side then we might just
stand a chance, because we sure as hell don't now.

I agree. From a purely selfish perspective, we need enough people on the commission that support us - although not entirely - to get a majority. Which is part of the reason I want people who have no association with the game or a club. But then I want people who do have associations to clubs and the game in general. The whole key to who is on this commission is balance.

How can it be independant if Gallop heads it?
The guy is the worst head of any sport in the country in the last 20 years. If he heads it up then they may as well get Molly Meldrum as his deputy.
Give Demetriou whatever he wants and get him to head the independant commission.
I like the idea of John Quayle, Ken Arthurson and Ron Coote being invloved.

                                Others that come to mind:
                                Alan Jones
Great Aussie sportsmen that love the game. Maybe Ian Thorpe
