That's what I would do. There are passionate league people there but there are also highly intelligent, extremely successful people with backgrounds in politics and business. I think we need to cover 3 bases - business, politics and rugby league. Business people will bring us money, politicians can get through legislation in parliament via their political power and league people will give the business and political people a direction from a fans perspective.
With the league people, they are quite intelligent, but most importantly they know how to argue and debate points. It's all well and good to get fiery and passionate league players on to the commission but you need them to also be able to argue their point to the rest of the group, as well as argue to political parties and business people as well. Which is why I have the likes of Howard, Kelly, Fels and Goodyear on the group of directors.
Lowy and Coates provide a background in getting major competitions off the ground, in this case the Olympics and football. Sir Laurence Street provides a law background amongst others in the group, who will help the other parties make sure any decisions are legal.
I don't know... I just think it is a very credible group of people who provide a range of skills and backgrounds to keep the game moving. Some of them are very unlikely to join but one can only dream. I would be happy with all of them their. My only problem is Melbourne.... Can't think of anyone.

Yay John Howard so he can:
- Take away fair conditions for the struggling players.
- Remove any form of salary restriction, making 3 or 4 clubs dominate, and churn out millionair stars while the smaller clubs fold.
- Ban big guns from the NRL (sorry JWH.)
- Refuse to say sorry to Timana Tahu.
- Sell half of the NRL to China for a quarter of what that portion is actually worth and blow the money by making Dragons tickets cheaper.
- Make sure Gaz is the boss of the refs so that the Dragons win every time because he is a fan.
- Stand in the background wearing the jersey of whichever team wins each week and claim to have always been a fan.
- Make sure none of his mates get in trouble when they are caught paying Iraq kickbacks for fermented hops/wheat trade.
- Blame the previous boss every time things go pear shaped while reminding people that he is the only reason why the game has become so successful over the years, and did not crash and burn thanks to its screwy players, coaches, refs and managers.
- Refuse to go, even when we all know it's waaaaay past his time...Last edited by ism22; 10-11-2010, 07:18 PM.

Abolsutely no to cullen, the piece of filth he is.
Need people that have RL in their best interest not QLD RL.
Alexander is not a bad suggestion actually.
As long as anyone associated with the Broncos and QLD SOO and Phil GOuld are no where near it , I will be happyThe Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Chefman you have started a good discussion.
Just because people jump up and down about some of your names doesn't detract from it
or make it personal. The Internet is a place for posting silly things

I'm more interested in other people's lists so we can all debate and discuss everyone's opinions. I like good conversations and thinking about multiple aspects of everything. I love a good debate.

You have a good list chefman but one name you can scratch instantly is that of:
Director 1: Frank Lowy
you can guarantee that he will not want to be part of a commission to assist a sport that is in competition with the A league.
Aside from that, it's good.

Aside from that, it's good.- If he tries to screw us then not a single organisation will work with him again in roles such as these. And if anyone on the commission thinks he is they will vote against him or kick him off. Doesn't look good for him.
- He has the choice to say no. Not interested, concerns about bias or integrity or just hates the game he will just say no.
- I'm assuming he is a consummate professional with a set of ethics. If he is professional he can do it with no fuss. People like him feed off challenges like this. If he has doubts such as those above he is professional enough to say no.

people much like i'm guessing the people starting this commission have been too busy with the season to bother. their dream to get it in before the kick off was exactly that a dream. now that we have the offseason i'd much rather the time be taken to actually plan and organise this thing properly
