PARRAMATTA have signed former Queensland State of Origin winger Chris Walker to a two-year contract.
Neighbours Penrith had shown considerable interest in Walker but the ex-Catalans outside back elected for a one-year deal at Parramatta with an option for a second season.
Walker, 30, has previously played with Brisbane, Souths, Sydney Roosters, Melbourne and Gold Coast.
"Our coach Steve Kearney wanted to add some depth to our outside backs," said Eels chief executive Paul Osborne. "We met Chris and he said he was really keen to come to Parramatta.
"We feel that Chris will add another dimension to our team."
It is understood that Parramatta signed Walker relatively cheaply.
Walker's speed will nicely gel with the brilliance of Jarryd Hayne.
Parramatta remain firmly in the hunt for former Dally M Medallist Matt Orford. Canberra are also chasing Orford.
