I read somewhere during the week that Joel always wants to be in the spotlight.

It reminded me of something that happened at a roosters function a few years back.

I had my head shaved at that time and it was obviously too much for Joel to deal with.

He dragged me all over the room looking for Fitzy and then said he wanted a photo of us together. He kept calling me "Fitzy's twin".

At the time I thought he was a moron of the highest order if he thinks trying to embarass a sponsor is the right thing to do. Fitzy saw what an idiot he was being and was almost apologetic.

I had forgotten about it until I read that thing in the paper.

Watching that press conference almost made me teary. I know it was a horrible thing to do but all these stupid headlines, get some perspective. He wasn't **cking a dog for god's sake. And how is that ANY worse than drug taking, gang banging and glassing and beating up your gf?! Obsessive media and their pursuit to ruin people for the sake of a story, congratulations, you did.

the story is being blown way out of proportion. He has now paid the consequences for a stupid prank, but it is definitely no worse than what some others have done and gotten away with..

Most of us have done something "illegal" during our misspent youth.

However, this one is pretty special.

I've never met the bloke and never will. He comes accross as a decent bloke. The fact that players were rallying to have him kept at the club speaks volumes about his character.

Hopefully for his sake he learns from it and becomes a better person.
