On paper great signing, in reality he will be a dud, anyone with an attitude like his will always be a dud, "has to do whats best for him" please, the pratt cant even cover the cost of his legal bills, even after factoring in the the gifts and over the top payments he received.

Besides we have the best centre in the game, i am glad souffs signed him, it will make it even sweeter when we beat them and they languish outside the 8 again.

Not us, we've learnt from our past mistakes (hopefully).

Back ended contracts are unsustainable, in 2008 we signed Mason & O'meley... Mason on a back ended contract. We had a reasonably successful year but what followed I feel our club is still recovering from despite making the Grand Final this year.

First it was the established players who we had brought through the club that we couldn't afford to re-sign (Shillington & Tupou) the type of blokes who make a club. Then we couldn't afford to re-sign Monaghan who was just starting to peak at the club and desperately wanted to stay. Then it was a promising youngster in James Tamou who we couldn't match the dollars with even if we wanted to.

A big name signing on a back ended contract might be good for short term success but in the long term you'll effectively be playing with a team well under the salary cap and lose plenty of promising players.

The reason for the post is Souths, or more to the point Richo, have been crying that they haven't any room under the cap to sign any of Melbourne's big four and all of a sudden Inglis signs with Souths?
