    What an utter Joke !!!

firstly it is a split role???? WTF is with that??? Does it work like the two ref system???

Harrigan is the control Referee's boss with Raper the Pocket Referee's boss???

McCallum is the man for the job !

The arrogance of them will only increase - which is almost impossible to contemplate.

Whilst there is no denying Bill was a bloody good ref in his day, I can't see the logic in placing someone who was an integral part of the current decline in the standard of reffing to the top job? Unless of course Bill unloaded on Funch srn during his interview and blamed him for all of the fark ups?

          Chook.

or they'll still be controlling which way games go.

He's been doing that on 2SM all year, saying the ruck is out of control, saying he wants to re-write the rule book to modern day standards.......he's all talk and no action off the field Harrigan. The two biggest **** ups in the video box were by this guy this season and he's been rewarded with a promotion, says it all about the NRL administration really.

the most worrying thing about Finch being given the arse is the uncertainty of the new interpretations of the rules that Harrigan and Raper will bring, it is of great concern that Harrigan wants to re-write the rulebook to suite the modern game, god knows what could happen if he is allowed to take poetic license with the rugby league rulebook.

what quite often happens when interpretations of rules are changed it completely changes the dynamic of the game and it is the teams that a suited best to the new interpretations that will be successful and the ones that don't have the cattle to adapt can struggle for years until either they rebuild their squad or the rule interpretations change.

if the new interpretations of the rules lead to our playmakers having less room to move we could struggle as our forward pack although showing plenty of potential has yet to demonstrate on a consistent basis they can grind out a win against the stronger packs in the competition.

As was the case when we bought Mason and O'Meley then the rules changed to speed up the ruck area. These two guys - particularly O'Meley - were much less effective with this 'tweaking' of the rules.....

can't imagine that being the idea behind any rule changes - more likely to be the opposite

I heard him on the radio today saying "what we need is all the refs to be more confident in their decisions, and to use the video ref less..."

Maybe I'm a loner on this but When people are over-assertive and get things wrong, I get really pissed off. What we don't need is more overly-assertive refs who reek of confidence so much that they can't for a second sit back and double-check their decisions.

I don't want super-assertive refs running the shop, I want confident refs who are confident because they know the rules, have seen what happened (maybe multiple times via video if needed) and know in their hearts that their decision is correct.

Maybe we should just start refing the game like Austag where there is no ref and the players decide. I can just imagine...

That is the sort of crap that comes out of the CH9 mouths. They (esp Gould) whinge like babies if the referee uses the vidref then complain like stuck pigs if they don't and get the decisions wrong.

The focus should be on getting the right decision not whether there is a quota or limit to how many the times the ref goes to the vidref

Or a knock on is no longer a knock on?

Or a push is not enough to affect a player?
