  • Souffs & Bennett

A done deal according to the telecrap.. and any souths fan who can string a sentence together

WAYNE Bennett is a done deal at the South Sydney Rabbitohs for 2012

Sources are telling us Bennett has agreed on the condition there is no official announcement until the end of next season.

The Rabbitohs will confirm Johnny Lang is retiring but refuse to speculate on a replacement because Bennett has been known to pull out of deals once they've been made public. Just ask Nick Politis at the Roosters.

Bennett doesn't realise that Nick would have looked after him in the long term.
He sees a retirement payout from Crowe as a fitting end.
The idea of coaching Sydney Souths after coaching Brisbane Souths might be an influence, but he won't take these idiots to a premiership without a huge overhaul.

I put this to you all, if Bennett is serious about Souths he will cut alot of the current squad and bring in his little boys like Boyd etc. But will this be Souths in truth, I think not and the teethless wonders and the lying hypocrites deep down will know any sucess he brings will be not to souths but to just another team wearing their colours but not the souffs they love, because that entity is doomed eternally to failure
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

            KB,
interesting you say that because there was some suggestion that apparently Lachlan Murdoch (passionate Broncos fan) got wind of his supposed 2006 agreement with us & gave Bennett an ultimatum. Murdoch told him that if he turned his back on the Broncos, all forms of support, deals & favours he once enjoyed would be a thing of the past. Some months later Brisbane go all the way and claim the 2006 title.

I really can't see Bennett going to Souths. He's a smart guy, I can't see him putting up with the Souths circus. I don't see how they could afford him either. Its a known fact that he misses and prefers to live in and return to QLD. Coaching and winning a premiership for Souths would prove nothing for him. He has won with the Dragons which proved he could win a title with another team and not only with the (Broncos AKA QLD State of Origin team AKA Australian Intl team). He will be 62 by 2012, I am sure he will be setting himself up for other things. I would like to see Bennett take a crappy team/club, such as Cronulla, and win a title with them, but we all know that would never happen. That would really show how great a coach he is. In my book Jack Gibson is still the best coach ever as he took the worst teams and turned them into champions. Something Bennett has never done. Jack was never afraid of real challenges.
On the flip side, with all the power brokers behind Souths including the NRL (Gallop), it may make for a huge publicity and marketing ploy.

Isn't this article stating that its a done deal .....making it public ?
So by rights, he should now pull the plug on the deal like he did to Politis !

But then maybe Benny thinks that Rusty can get him into the movies .... he could be the new ..... nearest celebrity to Bennet I can think of is Elliot Goblet !

Contested by another News Ltd corrupted team. We all know that Melb won the following year 2007 with an illegally acquired team. The majority of players from that team were with them in 2006 .

Bennett could star in a new rugby League Movie about the Career of Scott Minto.

Bennet could very well win a premiership with this Souths side, provided Inglis is in the team. Probably the only coach that could with their halves.

                            Bennett to Souths?

Bennett's next move is going to be the NRL's biggest story for 2011 and a major distraction at the Dragons. He either stays at the dragons or returns to Qld for mine. Only ridiculous money can make this Souths move happen. More likely a diversion as Souths make a play for more realisitc targets - Sheens and Bellamy - with outsiders being Folkes or even Brian McLennan (ex Kiwi & Leeds).

THe other big stories that will continue to run are the betting scandal and Braith's next move.

Striking resemblences. If it wasn't Wayne Bennett, and considering Minto's limited ability, it had father and son look to it.
