Given the Qld flood crisis, I strongly doubt this game will be going ahead unfortunately .

The game is a deal between Ipswich and the chooks, it will be on, but might get relocated.

Souths have already named a 20 man squad for the trial on the 5th of Feb.

Neither!!! I'm really excited about this season because I have no idea what is going to happen... but the trials are a good fix in the mean time.

I really really wish that fox sports would televise the trials and not just the charity shield!! Imo they would get good ratings simply because in February league fans are starved of footy and are desperate to see some action!

trials lack intensity, atmosphere and crowds and are also hard to call to any sort of standard with so much interchange

Trials can lack some intensity, but the main thing is, is that it is footy after waiting a long time for any and people want there dose of footy again no matter what. League is like a drug.

I went to the double header trial last year at bluetongue which was sharks vs tigers and Roosters vs eels. It was fantastic!! There was a big crowd, which generated good atmosphere with plenty of excitement and anticipation to see their side on display and get an indication of how their team was going to go for the year. People want to see their stars back in action, see their new buys in action for the first time in their colors and watch the young guys with potential and big wraps on them for the first time. TOK wouldn't you want to watch how piggy, Carney, Tasi, Cordner, Cherrington go?

I really don't know why the double header trial didn't go ahead again this year cause i would love to have gone to it! Country towns pack out their little stadiums to watch the trials which in itself generates a good atmosphere, cause they are so grateful that the NRL has come to them.

I myself became a Roosters supporter back in 1996 cause they came to my home town Muswellbrook for a trial against souffs, it really meant a lot to me. I was a panther supporter but was quite happy to change to the Roosters with Freddy, Sing and Gould swapping over.

I'll be at the trials, and hard core fans of all clubs would watch their team play a trial if it was broadcast, but from a TV perspective I don't think trials tick enough boxes to be telecast.

If they did, Fox would show them

You might be right, but imo Fox should give it a go and find out. I believe that they would get good ratings. Fox imo in the off season show a lot of crapola, there is nothing really worth watching, so there is no competition, the trials would be much much better to watch. Many people can't make it to the trials but would be more than happy to watch it on the tv, just like through the season.
